How long will ESO carry on?

Lodreus0Redguard19
I recently got back into ESO as I've been searching for a decent MMORPG game to stay on. Sadly I couldn't find one and I really should have stayed on ESO as for missing out on events, news and content.

So to make sure I keep on playing I decided to buy a subscription but curious to know when ESO will end as I don't wanna be playing for a year or less knowing that ESO gonna close.

This game will be around for a long time coming. The gaming industry in general are making game's life span longer so they can flog/extend that title for more time/money while they can divide more time into future/different products. You can see this in numerous titles at the moment.

As for ESO there is so much they can expand on this game, the rest of Tamriel, Nirn, Oblivion, Mundus, Aetherius, systems, classes. etc etc.

Look at WoW for example they are still going.....So I would not need to worry about the future. Play relax and have fun. :)

Well, games like Lineage, Lineage 2, D&D Online, Everquest 2, Aion, and Wildstar are still playable...

So, take that and add in an actual player base, and you can probably guess that ESO will be around for quite a while.

Even The Secret World Legends player base made a return with an update on April, 4th this year. There is not many good MMOs around and people tend to stick around the ones that have the most potential. In my opinion, ESO has the most potential.

Suppose ur right. I was just curious that's all. Bought the game years ago and completely dropped it because of lack of interest, but with all the new DLC's I think it might be worth staying.

the game is starting to fail because of Zos constant bad decisions but they have a new person at the helm that seems to believe in communication so i think there will be a turnaround

they just need to clean house and restaff. programmers, community staff etc.

    that's what i would do.

It will continue up until Todd Howard announces TES VI. At which point we will all squee with delight.

And then it will keep on going because who am I kidding? It's not like we don't play this and Skyrim too.

I agree. Can't remember much but I think people complained about how the combat changed when the game returned and so some were unhappy about it. I was planning on trying that game out but wasn't too keen on the modern theme merged with fantasy.

Anyway, hopefully if things turn out well I'll stay on ESO. I've spent some of my time jumping from MMORPG games to another looking for something that beats BDO combat system or somewhat has the same system. What I enjoyed from BDO was that fact that I could change my skills into something else by upgrading them, like you would in ESO when the option is available to morph a skill.

I'm also planned on playing Bless but seeing that's taking a while I'll be spending most of my gaming time on ESO for now regarding the response and gameplay.

The game is celebrating it's 4th anniversary and it's going to have years to come. ZOS has a yearly schedule of content planned. As long as they get revenue from the players they're gonna keep supporting the game.

A long time, with players paying up to 1000s each, why would they cut the revenue off? There's much more money still to be made

Every MMO ever created lasts exactly the same amount of time, for as long as its profitable.
And all indications suggest that ESO is highly profitable.

IMO eso will be dead on console when new next gen console comes out we have a long time. On PC it will live much longer but with a small population.

ESO has so much potential and content to get through I can't see it stopping even in 10 years time as there is more than 1 continent on Nirn.

Game seems to be healthier now than ever, it's not going anywhere in the near future.

I wager next gen won't be until 2019-2020. And ZOS could potentially port the game to the next gen systems with increased graphical capabilities, upped resolution, and higher framerate.

I think it's got at least another 4 or 5 years in it minimum.

The thing is, ZOS will develop another game (If they aren't already - Fallout Online??) but they can have two different teams running and adding content to different games.

ESO will be going for a while yet :)

I am very, very, VERY glad you're not in charge of ZOS then.

That's probably the most destructive thing you could do to a persistent game.

ESO is the best MMO with WoW. All other MMO are asian that are all hardcore farm games, without fun at all.

ESO has a great combat mechanic, beautiful graphics, great pve and pvp, and from this point they can only make it better and add more stuffs. This will eventually become a big advantage against any other new MMO.

After WOW i tried many other MMO but no one catch me for more than a few days. Then I discovered LOL and i played that garbage for some years. It was very addictive and destroyed part of my private life and my nervous system, years i will not recover but thanks god i never played it again. Then i swap to HOTS and then ESO since it came out and those are now my only two games actually play.

I'd say it will be viable and profitable for another 8-10 years at least. But maybe ZOS will want to do ESO 2 before that.

i guess even if they release TES VI it won't kill TESO. Of course for some period TESO playerbase will be smaller, but after everyone finished TES VI, even more ppl will want to try something new - TESO, which make TESO playerbase even bigger than it was before.

I highly doubt there will be an ESO 2. Just like there very likely won't be a WoW 2.
