Guess he meant EU has higher VAT in general than US and UK the highest of all. But it is not the case.
EU prices are always displayed with VAT included. US prices are usually displayed without sales tax, which differs between states. That's why sometimes US prices seem lower at first glance despite actually being comparable.Apache_Kid wrote: »

Even if that were the case though would the discrepancy in price be that big? I don't see it.
Sumerset upgrade costs $29.99 in USA but its 29.99 EUR in Europe. Do people at Zenimax know that 1 USD does not equal 1 EUR ?
What is even more strange in this situation is that keys are not region locked. so of course I am going to buy USA key and apply it to my Euro account. So whats the deal ? This is some kind of idiot tax for people who don't know better ?

VAT is 20% and must be shown in the initial price. In the US we pay sales tax per state so it's not shown in the initial price.

I understand about the state sales tax but i guess since we don't see it i was confused about the amount/calculation. Thanks for the info.

Yah I can't find a 29.99 copy either. Only 39.99US for the standard edition. ~54 Canadian, 30 pounds. Had to use my VPN to stop it from defaulting to the CAN price every time, lol.
Is this hullabaloo all about nothing?

Not saying that's what happened here, of course. There are many reasons for regional differences in video game prices.

Awesome...but the GBP version is 19.99 GBP which is what it shows me when I use my VPN and connect to a UK server.
So as I thought, this is all about nothing. In fact the UK cost is less that the US one even if you take into account conversion, so the OP has got it wrong.

That's even less fair to the rest of the countries in Europe outside UK, because like I said its 30 EUR everywhere except UK, 20 GBP is only 23 EUR, which means rest of Europe is paying 7 euro's more !!!
How does this fit with VAT theory ??? I thought UK also pays VAT...
