the last jester event showed a big flaw in the system that is being exploited by many players. it is that many players are posting single items for a stupid amount that are needed to complete achievement. Especially for limited avaliable items like a specific one from the jester even. Also many of the players that post for stupid amounts also use 3 party programs to scan for when someone does put an item up for a fare price just so they can go buy it and then throw it up for a stupid price. This practice has been going on for a long time in the game ever since the get the player stores working. So I am calling on all player that are sick and tired of this to boycott buying any single or stacked items that final total price if 50k or higher. sooner or later the players that are doing this will learn that if they try to sell something at a stupid amount they will not make any money.

Good luck with that. 50k is spare change in this game and many items are legitimately worth a lot more than that.

Sorry, I'm rarely so harsh, but a 50k cap is a terrible idea.

Beyond the obvious reasons why it's a bad idea, ZoS created a free market for a reason. Putting a cap on listing prices would do nothing but harm their original vision. I highly doubt they would ever implement such a thing.

I fail to see any exploit in play. You are on even playing field, you are all battling RNG for the recipe drops. People who buy low and sell high are in no way exploiting. It's good for the in game economy.

Some items are genuinely worth more than 50k. Anyone selling the vAS poly for 50k is out of their damn mind. (And also I'd like to buy it from them.)

Scalping sucks, but they can't make money if you don't buy it. If you only see ridiculous listings, come back later. Eventually, someone will put it up. You can make by without the achievement if all the recipes are 100k+, and wait for someone to post a more reasonable price, buying the drink in the meantime if you need it for your build.

It's annoying, yeah, but you're better off waiting for all the stupid prices to die down.

Supply and Demand have a lot to do with pricing, like the real world.

Smart players do events, get items and hold them for months and then list them for high prices. There's nothing wrong with that tactic. It takes some guessing and foresight along with using bank storage.

Supply and demand.

If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

Let's be honest, if you have an item you know you can seel for way more than 50k and youa re short on gold, will you sell it for 1000 gold instead?

Because that's what would actually reduce the market price.

Supply and demand is a thing. Look it up.

1. If something is underpriced, someone will buy it and flip it until it becomes overpriced and doesn't sell.
2. If something is overpriced it won't sell and will eventually be priced lower until it does sell.

If you refuse to pay over 50k for any given item or stack of items, that's on you. I will personally scoop up a stack of 200 Tempering Alloy if it's priced at 51k. You feel free to pass on that one.

price caps would drive rare things entirely to private guild auctions.

History is quite clear: forcing prices on the market doesn't level the playing field, it simply empties it.

The reason that recipe is expensive is not because people need it for an achievement. It's because it's one of the best Stamina DPS food buffs out there.

When I got it last year, I learned it on my main for the achievement. Later I realized I should have gotten one for my chef but the ones available were very expensive. So I decided to just wait till this year's Festival and sure enough, I got it for my provisioner.

Based on the hours I spent on Jester quests the last 4 days, average 10 minutes per, and the number of DCT I got, about 6% or 1 in 20 boxes, you are asking me to artificially value that at around 15k per hour. I could have just continued doing my writs, which I paused to focus on this short event. I'm going to sell them for whatever I can get from the market.

Meh, you can't stop people paying for something that they want, and if the demand is high enough... that's economics 101. All you can do is hope for common sense; such as, players realize these quests are daily, and they can essentially farm these item themselves if they really want to. I'm not going to stop someone paying another person a huge amount of gold for something silly, I'll probably laugh and joke at their expense as they do it, but it's their money. Also, if someone is willing to pay me 100k+ for a recipe that I have multiple copies of... I'm probably going to sell.

If players don't want to farm for certain items, have the disposable income to buy said items, and are willing to pay the posted price... I don't really see any issue with that.

It's annoying, but you just have to wait and lurk and wait and lurk and check every day and try for low-traffic times. Eventually you will find the thing you're looking for at an actual fair price. I will wait weeks if I have to in order to avoid rewarding someone that I can tell went around buying lower priced stuff and elevating it, and so far I've always eventually found the thing.

this is a terrible idea.

the eso economy is pretty much a free market. sellers can charge what they want and buyers choose whether they want to pay, or not.

fair price is totally subjective.

50k is nothing in this game. There are items legitimately worth several mil. I saw a polymorph sell for almost 4 mil in one of my guilds today. The fact that you think 50k should be the cap alone means you don't know what you're talking about. Go learn to play the game and come back when you know what you're talking about.

You can get a recipe for under 100k easily right now. if it's that important, buy one for your provisioner. If you can't afford that, then the game isn't at fault, nor the other players, you just need to learn to make money.

pretty sure even stamina users have access to the festival and have an equal chance of getting a drop OR buying the food from a guild stall or from a crafter. No slight to stam users at all.

I just avoid the guild system altogether. If I want items I go after them myself, and if I get duplicates I either vendor or destroy them. I was very fortunate this week and had 3 Dubious Camoran Throne recipes, 2 of which I destroyed. I've destroyed loads of stuff over the years, multiple imperial motifs, buoyant armiger motifs, countless gold and purple recipes of all types the list goes on and on.

I just hate the auction house system in this game and refuse to be a part of it. I also avoid selling in chat because of the spam.
