To help you there's a ton of extra info needed..your build / setup / skills, how much impen you running, shields etc etc.

You can heal well in PvP, but will be targeted and probably are easy to kill. Plus OP players in BG will smash you.

    More details needed tho

Healers are mostly focussed by multiple enemies. Hiding behind objects and correct positioning might help defending against those guys.

Unfortunately, that's gonna be the case till you get better gear.

Be warned that I'm not a healer, but if I were to heal exclusively, this would be my gear setup:

    Earthgore
Robes of Transmutation (Jewelry + Sash + Resto)
Armor of The Seducer (Crafted as Heavy Armor + Resto)

    All Impen of course.
Chest/Legs/Helm all with the Prismatic Glyph (+Hp/Stam/Mag)
Transmutaion bar would be where you place your long duration based buffs and Mutagen
Seducer bar would be where your Ulti and other skills would be.

time to kill should be longer.
people should not be able to kill eachother in 2 seconds and / or less.

The problem your having is your below level 50 and that queue is plagued with people that have perfect gold sets of gear and build for the sole purpose of destroying noobs. Then when they're characters hit 50 they just remake them and do it again.

Get to at least 160 cp and then get yourself some gear and you will do much better.

160 cp is because that is when gear stops leveling, so if your gear is level 40 every level above your gear you go the less effective it is, so its recommended to get to 160cp then start getting your gear and build together, until then you are going to have to pretty much deal with being cannon fodder.

Anywhere you have PvP, you’re gonna have people that want to win at all costs. Some of these people will gold out lowbie gear and run around in BGs and Kyne destroying noobs. It’s kind of pathetic, but it’s a fact of life. Maybe look at it as incentive to get better? These tryhards beating up on noobs will never get better because they’re never being challenged, while you will get better as you learn to hold your own against them.

It's the cheese fest I always knew it would be, so I've stayed clear from it. I've loled good at Vid Caps from proud face rollers and they didn't even bother to check if the skill cost and mag regen is even possible, and they aren't when you look at dmg/in and dmg/out, mag used for certain skills and the rate the mag goes up (and skills used at the same time). No wonder so many don't use LUI and stuff like that so we can easily follow what dmg their skills do and dmg they take and so on. But I just don't have the time to waste on crap like that anymore.

Effective healing in PVP is proactive healing. If you wait until players are taking lots of burst damage, your burst heals won't keep up.

get to cp 160. If you're over 160cp get to level 50. Then get reactive, transumation with 1h/shield, and earthgore. If you cant get earthgore get chokethorn.

Use shimmering shield, healing springs, and rapid regen then whatever other moves you fancy. Decisive weapons are also good. Now cast trees every 10 seconds. Recieve hate mail. Repeat.

Sometimes lag makes some people seem like they go from full health to death very quickly, and thus seem impossible to heal. It is very annoying.

    Sometimes players do die fast.

Only thing you can do is stay mobile, keep defenses up and throw heals at people who seem to be under attack or about to be attacked.

Obviously the tankier you get the easier it will become to stay up and also if you join a group with tankier players it will all be much easier and you'll feel like a healer that is making a difference. Players also don't need to be tanky, most have defensive abilities and when you see them use them, just toss heals at em since their health may not have properly updated on your client.

Yes, sort of. If you have CP on your account, you can use your CP on any new character staring at level 1.

If you dont have any character above level 50, you have to reach level 50 to start earning CP.

However, CP is disabled in Battlegrounds, regardless of whether you have CP or not. But, it does let you equip the best gear once you reach CP 160.

You will start earning cp after you hit level 50. Cp 160 is the gear cap which is why that is your next goal. From then on cp doesn't matter in battlegrounds or no cp pvp. God speed.

Thing is, his gear and or CP has no effect on this.

Once he gets to 50 and 160 gear he will then join the 50+ BGs and will still have difficulty.

Sub 50 in BGs is probably gonna be nearly the same experience for him or worse.

Right now, the only difference in gear choice is monster helms.

It's possible he is currently joining BGs in sub optimal gear - a problem that can be fixed immediately

It's more likely that OP can learn a few tricks like block casting - where you hold your block up while casting abilities (especially SnB ) to prevent 50-85% of the incoming damage making heals more effective.

It could be as simple as trying to heal glass cannons or PuGs that just will take too much damage to survive even with heals - that just can't be fixed even with the BiS gear

For a healer to be effective they must be healing something that actually mitigates some damage, you're not just a GD meat bag

I suspect that op is running into groups with optimized golded gear who have been playing the game for some time. If you have ever fought someone like that you'll know how insane the sub 50 boost is. Especially in the hands of someone that knows how to use it.

So, for background, I spend almost all of ym playtime in BGs and am consistently in the top 100 for all gametypes. Don't take that to mean I'm good, I suck. I just play a lot.

With that said, healers are a HUGE asset in BGs. If your team has a competent healer (and that's important, you have to have a healer built for PVP or they just get targeted and killed instantly) it can turn a mediocre team into an unstoppable force. The players have to be decent to begin with and have viable PVP builds, but if they are and manage to stick together with the team and the healer, you can run the other teams over.

The problem isn't that healers are ineffective or that there is too much damage, it's that there are too many people that don't stick with their team, don't have PVP builds (i.e. impen with decent resists adn hP ) so they get 1 or 2 shot, and don't know how to play PVP in general.
