You're not. Give it another 40 years and then you can. :) And you'll likely still be gaming. I am.

This is fascinating, but it's not really surprising.

Games seem to be designed for the 20 to 30 year old demographic. And according to most studies, this is the age group that plays the most games. So it makes sense.

But this is a bit of a bummer for older players or anybody who doesn't have the dexterity and reflexes of a 20 year old. Especially in a game like ESO with its action combat system :/

One might consider though that this is more of a reflection of what age group cares enough to frequent the forums.

Haha! Same here! But seeing so many older people here makes me incredibly excited for the future. I always wondered if old people's homes for my generation would just be gaming heaven, and these results are kinda reinforcing that

I must admit I'd feel a lot more comfortable about the prospect of ending up in an old folk's home if I knew it resembled an internet cafe rather than God's Waiting Room!

Whilst I've not seen any that were strictly gaming, there ARE a great many who have computers now. Studies showed that having access to computers (and literacy with them) was very helpful for the elderly. As more and more of us reach that stage, all we need to is start agitating for games. :)

Tis not disappointing, Tis perfectly comprehensible.

When I Turn 55 My Dexterity shall be extraordinary and focus sharper than sharpest of the Khajit's claws! :)

    Joke.

You cannot expect a player of such an age to posses reflexes ,stamina and fire of the individual in 20's or 30's It is not possible, especially not if he/she has been playing games vigorously for decades..

I m 28 with 20 years of Gaming Saga already I feel a slight burden, Let us call it that way.

    Hah!

Speak for yourself. Only way they'll slow me down is to nail me into that damned box and even then I'll still dig my way out.....

Has anyone done, or even devised, a poll that compare age with play style? Do the younger players go for dueling? Older players for group dungeons? I suspect the range of ages shown is a good indication that there's something in this game for everyone.

I'm 41, been gaming for about 35 years now (started on Atari 2600). Yes, your dexterity deteriorates over time. Studies have shown that regular gaming actually helps slow the process, but there's not a lot you can do about it overall. I know I certainly don't have the same reflexes I did in my early 20's. That's not to say I'm totally gimpy now, I'm just not going to win any twitch gaming competitions.

If it's any consolation to you, I actually enjoy gaming more now. I have a lot more free time and of course a crapload more disposable income than I did in my 20's, so I can afford whatever hardware/games I want.

That's certainly true as long as you retain your health generally. There are a lot of age-related health issues (including declining vision, arthritis, mental alertness etc) that can impact badly on your gaming, but by the same token gaming is actually a very good way of keeping some of those problems at bay!

I was like that 'til my late 50s and then all hell broke loose. I sure hope that doesn't happen to you. Aging happens. Some of us have great genes and avoid some of the common pitfalls, others aren't so lucky BUT doesn't mean you still can't game and have fun.
