I'm having a hard time deciding between the sorcerer and nightblade class. was wondering if some people could help me out XD
One thing i would also like is to be a pretty viable tank. but i have no interest in the other 3 classes.

Sorc. Of those choices, the Sorc. You're probably not going to be running vet trials (though it is possible) with one, they perform amazingly in dungeons.

There are a lot of ways to build them, but Nightblades are, primarily, a DPS class with a focus on stealth. The Sorc is a DPS class with a lot of survival options, which can come together to make them very beefy.

The best tank in the business is a DK. With that said Sorc and NB can be tanks and be pretty good at it.

If you are looking for build ideas I suggest a quick visit to Youtube.

Both classes are fun to play in their own way so I am not going to be able to help you decide.

I have 3 sorcs and 2 NB's ATM. Good luck.

Just remember, when you do go to youtube to keep an eye on how old a build is. Because the internet is forever, you'll find builds that date back two or three years, and won't work anymore. Ideally you're looking for Dragon Bones era builds.

Sorc is a master of all trades and a jack of none. NERF SORC! NB are Flavor of the Month but require much more effort to play (well).

Sorc tanks can be really fun with dark deal, which is an amazing magicka dump.

However you can be a viable veteran NB tank too. In full heavy armor you can make good use of the shadow barrier passive.

IMO make your own build, dont look too much on youtube. You get a full attribute and a full skill reset scroll from levelling rewards anyway, so you can play around with it as much as you want and then reset to what you want.

I havent played around much with the revamped NB self damage-heal skills, but they are interesting.

Heck, you want to be original, play a frost staff tank with a sorc and petspam.

Need more info otherwise.. sorcs are ironically really good stamina characters, but anything is *viable*... both are good for solo PvP since they have good escape skills. I personally kinda detest pets, and you don´t need to use them as a sorcerer.

Sorc is generally more fun and user friendly. I am bias though.

I started with a Sorc and have at least one of every class, mixed Mag and Stam builds. The Magblade is my #1 now but I still love the Magsorc. Everything just melts and dies with my Magsorc but my Magblade takes more thought to play well.

Alcast has his builds set up fairly easy to find, if anyone decides to go there. Each build is labeled for the update.

That is a tough one. They’re both really good. Depending on how you gear them and skill choice, they can both perform any role just as well. I’d say it really boils down to group utility. Nightblades offer some really nice group utility and have a lot of survivability built into the same skills.

Another factor is whether or not you want pets or bonuses to damage from stealth. Finally, it’s a matter style.

I personally gravitate more towards the Nightblade due to flexibility and utility. Magblades in particular are surprisingly good at being a team player because they can dps and provide group healing at the same time. They also have some decent debuff abilities in their class abilities.

Sorcerers have really potent personal survival abilities, but they don’t do a whole lot for keeping the rest of the group alive.

If you dislike stealth, are interested in pets or find Bolt Escape to be the greatest skill in this game, go Sorc. Otherwise NB.
The latter simply allows for a lot more diversity in builds, roles and playstyles. And right now, it's generally stronger, too, but I wouldn't base my decision on that.

Well, I haven't been playing my sorc tank much lately, and I've never played a Nightblade tank, so I can only say that sorc tanks are really fun. And if you build it around Magicka, there is a lot of class skills you can use. Check my build in the footer. But mind you, it's rather fun build, not min-max build and it's not beginner-friendly. But you can get some thoughts.

Unfortunately, getting into vet trials will be mission (almost) impossible, because the DK meta is really strong. And with the current state of game, the other tanks *objectively* lack resource management with perma blocking. Maybe now you don't see that as a problem, but later you might regret that decision. But if you go for a sorc, you can reroll to a healer, where the situation is much brighter and non-templar healers are in much better position :)

Both are fun classes and both can tank really well. Don't expect to try and get into progression trial runs as basically all classes except DKs are *** for those high scores but you can definitely take them into vet content and have fun.

Also when it comes to tanking I don't think night lads have an class shields while sorcs do. I like the nightblade shadow vibe, at the same time the lightning look of sorcs are pretty sick as well.

I say go with both, lots of character slots to try them both out :)

Remember when leveling to just level as a DPS and work on leveling up heavy armour, sword and board and undaunted at the same time so when you get enough skills you can start tanking pre CP160.

    Id go NB :-)

Sorc is cool but not the best at tanking

NB is strong as it can tank and DPS

Would advise to try both though

That tempest island strategy is kind of outdated on how to handle stormfist. 20% back up a distance and hit him from afar. Far enough range and he does his aoe and barely hurts you.

Final boss only uses aoe if you are too close, it is not a one hit kill if you have enough magic resistance for it but know it will likely send you flying which can cause you to be in her range for her lunge attack. Get too far and she will do her lunge attack. There is a safe distance you can literally go side by side and avoid both of those attacks. Windstorms however increase in frequency the longer the battle drags on, windstorms are based on physical resistance, same with her lunge attacks.
I'm used to doing this dungeon and have done it 13 times vet solo. Even livestreamed it once as well.

So far One hand and shield on main bar, restoration staff on the other one.

I want to keep my magicka for shielding, cc and healing + I find good block timing and some tri-stats are enough for many fights

Still working on it though, may come back to ice staff later.

Yes, but not everyone is that meticulous. I've seen plenty of people run afoul of old builds, trying to make things work that were removed ages ago. I've also been attacked, on these forums, over very old posts that were no longer true; the whole, "werewolves get permanent +15% stam regen," thing comes to mind. When the post was written it was true, when google found it years later, the bonus was tied to the ultimate.
