Im all for pre summerset jewelry to be deconable after like a month or whatever.

The inventory tool tip will have the word legacy under the classification (ring, jewelery) and the color of the word legacy will be legendary to help distinguish it.

This is not an intuitive solution. Just put the words: "Cannot Deconstruct" on their own line in the description.

And if, say, I list some pre-Summerset green Spinner rings (knowing they can be upgraded and knowing someone might want to), then someone buys them for decon purposes instead? Then I get banned for the perfectly innocent reason of selling a desirable set piece that happens to be an upgradable green.

Motive is too ambiguous in some cases for a ban. Better for the old versions to be clearly marked.

And the thought process stops there.

You're assuming deliberate enemy action here. Personally, I just think that "new" craftable/etc jewelry has more variables in it's database entry, so the old stuff just isn't fully compatible with the new system. Which means they don't "make the old jewelry unable to be decontructed" - it's already unable, and they'd have to do some kind of database wizardry on every piece of old jewelry to make it work.

I think ZOS will make the new jewelry distinguishable so players dont get scammed.

If you think about, gold crafted jewelry will be very expensive in the beginning. The only way to get them is by deconstructing new gold jewelry (HM trails), golden vendor In Cyrodiil or by refining resources you get from jewelry nodes. Everyone will hunt for jewelry nodes when Summerset launches so it wont be easy to farm nodes.

You probably need 8 gold tempers just like clothing, blacksmithing and woodworking. I would anticipate gold jewelry tempers will cost around 50k in the beginning. Making a gold jewelry piece 400k each. PVP players have the advantage that AP is coming in faster than its spend so they can make a lot of gold by selling golden jewelry.
