I personally enjoy Magplar more. I find the rotation a bit more enjoyable and less dynamic than Magblade. For soloing I would say Magplar, lots more healing to be had.

for pvp or pve?
magplar is an easy going class in pve, since you have an oh-***-heal and basically you just can spam jabs to do damage and heal yourself enough in most of fights. magblades meanwhile have haling over time from funnel health or healing path. but they also have to rely on shields when facing a hard hitting enemy. but nightblades have cloak and can disengage whenever they want, for example when facing an enemy to hard to beat.
pretty much the same goes for pvp, where magplars have good survivability by having the best solo heal in the game. but they lack mobility without mistform and have to either be offensive or defensive. nightblades are very strong in pvp too, again because they just can cloak and reset a fight, when they are overwhelmed. again most nightblade in pvp rely on healing over time and damage shields, but have some bursty combos to take down enemies fast, meanwhile templars lack burst.
Magblade if you want to have a cloak that is actually balanced
I meme, but my memes are so truthful they hurt -Elder Nightblades Online Want competitive pvp while being outnumbered? Tough luck, the devs clearly said you have to die in those situations
