Allow Off-bar Equipment to count towards set bonuses?

Off-bar Equipment refers to the currently unused weapon/shield equipped.

This would bring it in line with enchantments sharing a cooldown between bars.
-It would allow 2H,Staff,bow users to run 2,5,5 if they desired. (both weapons and 3 others counting towards a 5 piece)
-It would not allow DW/Shield users to gain 5,5,5. But at most 5,5,3,1 or 5,5,2,2 or 5,5,4
-Future set effects not needing to take into account of if they are on the bar or not could potentially alleviate coding issues.

However,
-It is promoting powercreep
-It opens the door for the argument of why skills on the backbar don't count towards player passives, stats.
-Implementation may will likely break more things upon first release.

    yep, it will help one piece weapons users to benefit from 5 5 2 builds.

    i would also like to skills slotted in the backbar to count as slotted. For example, sorcs would not have to double slot pets.

    Yes please....but I think what would be better is to add sets other than the 1,2,3, and 5 piece options we currently have...such as 4 piece sets, 6 piece sets, 7 piece, etc all the way up to 12 piece...with the set bonus getting stronger the more pieces you have equipped...at the cost of a weakening effect on the 2nd(or 3rd) set

    Increasing power isn't the idea behind this, rather it is a side-effect. (and as you say, will then need to be taken into balance)

    The main reasoning is that allowing 5 5 2 on Bows,Staves,2H will allow more theory-crafting on set usage. Rather than having to pick between the few jewelry sets available to you, or figuring out a good set combination for Bar-swap rotations utilizing a 2 4/5 4/5 setup.

    While The above are reasons to keep it as is, I find that the overabundance of existing 5-piece sets tends to favor theory-crafting and more diversity with allowing the Off-bar to count as set bonuses.

    And, I run two 5 piece sets on most of my characters, none of them are the same. On some characters I run a 5/2/2/1 and 5/2/2/2 combos of various things. There is plenty of theory crafting. 5/5/2 is not the only way to do things.

    It's not the only way, but it is the strongest with three distinct full-set effects. Stam classes have access to 5/5/2 on their main bar, mag classes never do since 2H weapons aren't being given credit for two slotted pieces.

    While I don't think off-hand should give you their set bonuses, as it would just expand on the issue we already have with dual wielding/S&B having more access to item set bonuses that any other setup, I do think 2H weapons should be treated as two pieces of a set so mag classes can actually have an option for 5/5/2

    This! The argument used to be that magicka was stronger than stamina so they couldn't have 5/5/2 setups as well. But now that the tables have turned and magicka needs a bit of a boost, I think this needs to happen.

    there are so many possible combinations as it is - and then jewellery crafting to come - that i really don't think this is necessary.

    Jewelry crafting doesn't have anything to do with this, apart from a larger base of sets to choose from.

    I understand that 5/5/2 isn't the only way to do things, you could go 0/0/0/0/0/0/0 if you really wanted to. (Btw, how does the 5/2/2/1 setup even work? that implies a slot left open that isn't being used by anything (using 10 of the 11 or 12 available slots), did you mean 5/2/2/1/1?)

    What this would accomplish is expanding upon what you can theory craft with on 2-slot weapons, as well as giving even more room to theory-craft with DW and SnB.

    The argument against this in regards to powercreep still stands though.

    Imo, it would be better to just make 2h, bpw, resto staff, and destro staff weapons count as two pieces of a set. This would have zero impact on dw/shield builds but would open 5/5/2 to magicka builds, healers, bow builds, and frost tanks. All of which need the benefit. 2h might need some adjusting though.

    Add a Jewelry piece that lowers Set requirements by "1" (Minimum of 2 pieces needed)

    4-4-2-(1)

    A Mag character with a Staff could have two 5 piece sets and still have a Monster set. (10 items required for that set up with one Jewelry piece to reduce set costs)

    It wouldn't massively buff One hand and Shield or Dual Wield, either.

    Bonuses from the back-bar? Sounds like a good way to break the game.

    I mean, they would have to re-balance just about everything to account for it, we’d end up right back at square one.

    When jewelry crafting comes out:

    • Remove weapons from the current dropped and crafted sets.
    • Reduce all sets to 4 piece.

    Weapons will have sets like the Masters, Maelstrom, and Asylum sets. (2H = 1 piece requirement, DW,SNB = 2 piece requirement)

    To be fair, if you are running S&B(in PvE anyway) you are a tank....and actually NEED a 3rd set more than anyone else because of all the incoming damage you are dealing with while buffing and debuffing. DW of course doesn't have that same need. The easy solution is as I have always said...make all sets available in 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, or 12 pieces, with the power of the set effect scaling with how many pieces you use...or alternatively allow REAL equipment crafting where you can craft sets with NO special complete-set bonus, but you get to choose whatever stat boosts you want for 2,3, and 4 piece bonuses(and allow you to name the sets you craft because obviously this wouldn't work with sets with existing names)

    This would actually be detrimental to some builds. Nobody wants a Mechanical Acuity proc while they are refreshing DoTs on their back bar.

    I do fully support 2H weapons counting as 2 set pieces, since they take up 2 gear slots. This would enable 5-5-2. (I know, dead horse)
