How long is the grind time between 500CP and 720CP?

Tygerfire

I realize the actual time is relative to exactly how you grind and what you are doing, but I'm more interested in the relative grind.

How big is the difference between 400 to 500, compared to how long it would take to go from 500 to 600 and 600 to 700?

Is the increase between levels steady or does it get alot higher as it grows closer to 720?

I'm newly back to the game, and with a double exp event coming out soon (not sure when, but I read that somewhere), I was just curious if I could knock out a big chunk of that CP in the event with just some steady grinding (nothing crazy), or if I should just stop worrying about it.

For whatever reason, since I'm not at cap I always feel like I should be wearing exp bonus gear, instead of what is better suited for my build.

Thanks for any help and or advice.

I can't actually remember how long it is between the level caps but obviously the higher CP you get the more exp is required for the next level.

It depends what you want to do; if you want to grind out the levels, do a zombie farm route or get help with Skyreach to achieve CP in the fastest way (training gear, +exp% potions etc...) or if you want it may be good to farm bears for example to get rawhide/rubedo scraps to turn into dreugh wax and make money while you grind.

I was always focused on getting the max CP cap so it was exp% potions, training gear and zombie/skyreach farming until I got there. It takes a lot of time though but once you are there you don't need to worry about that anymore and can just do end-game content, farming decent gear etc.

    Current Toons (Max CP):
    Magsorc Breton
    Magblade Darkelf
    Stam DK Redguard
    Healer Templar High Elf
    Tank DK Argonian
    Stamblade Redguard

I think I saw somebody claiming they went from 0 to 720 cp in 4 days of skyreach grinding.

So long as you're not letting your enlightenment overflow (playing once every 12 days), you'll gain on the cap.

You are not going to see tremendous gains from those last CP's as you do with the first CP's.

Stats stop at 300, gear at 160, and everything is so frontloaded now that you'll be very close to the same power level at 500 as you will be at 700.

Just do what you enjoy, and you'll gain and eventually pass the cap. I guarantee it.

This is what I did when I came back to the game and was 300 behind.

I just picked up where I left off questing, doing dungeons (daily random is very good XP) and enjoying myself again. I was cap before I knew it.

The main thing is to log in and play actively with CP enabled chars, as long as you're doing something which grants XP you'll be there soon enough and have fun on the way.

The better question is: why would you do it? I mean you gain 2-3% more damage done and mitigation at most between 500 and 720 CP due to the way the CPs are designed. It is much better to spend that time working on quality rather than quantity, meaning collecting gear, doing rotation, progressing content, playing PvP etc. CP is gained relatively fast even without grinding so playing the game normally will get you there in 2-3 months at most. Also be sure to spend your CP carefully so you don't spend too much in any given star, and never stop at high fractional values: https://alcasthq.com/eso-championpoints-jumppoints/

There is a big difference in specs between 500 and 720; that is 220 CPs to allocate within the champion tree in damage mitigation and damage dealing slots. Particularly in PvP, there is a huge difference between someone within the 500 ranges and max CP. I do agree to play the game for what video games are suppose to be; pure entertainment and passing the time. Grinding zombies, Skyreach, dolmens, bears, whatever, is not entertainment. Grinding is not entertainment; obtaining 720 CP within a few days is not entertainment (someone needs serious help here.) I wouldn't be still with this game for this long if I have to grind for XP and materials like that. Some or many peeps just go too crazy or serious with this game. However, it's cool, it's on them. Play your game.

I get a CP each time after completing the dailies during enlightenment, and that is enough for me. 3-5 times a week, or I may make up time during the weekend or days off where I can get 3 or 4 CPs. Lets say 7 CPs a week x 28-31 days a month and 365 days in a year; you can get 365 to 400 CPs within a year. Times that by 2 or 3 years and you're well over 1000 CPs. Time passes going on couple/several or more years doing what you enjoy within this game, and you don't even think about it. CPs and XPs just come naturally.

Don't do skyreach it will give you a headache.

For the event craft some training gear, use xp pots and find a few places to grind that is not hard but rewarding. Do pledges, trials and randoms as much as possible.

You want to get as much XP as you can during the event but you want have a little fun while doing it. Mix up the grind and keep up those xp buffs.

Seems that from the above posts many people will disagree with this but your fastest option is to get a set of training gear crafted at 160 and use a training monster set you have or something and run skyreach over and over during the event. Skyreach is instanced and this is indeed the fastest way to level. Use as many XP pots as you can as they stack with the event buff. Scrolls do too.I had a friend grind from 400-690 during the last double XP event and it took a lot of dedication to the grind but it took less time than you would think.

Many of the above posts saying "no don't grind!" don't understand that many guilds will not take people in to certain vet trials if they are not at CP cap. Whether that is right or not or whether it is elitist or not, makes absolutely no difference whatsoever because this definitely happens.

It is always better to be at max CP than to not be at max CP. The aversion that people have to grinding CP on these message boards is strange to me. You'll become a slightly better player pulling big mobs in skyreach and surviving as opposed to questing etc. which won't make you a better player in the slightest.

Getting carried in Skyreach won't tho

But yeh grinding from CP10 to CP160 did bump my DPS from 8k to 25k while being fully self sufficient as a StamBlade, so if you're the one doing the work grinding then go for it as there's only a certain number of times you can die before realising you need to gitgud & start working on rotation/learning your skills.

EDIT: As to answering OP it depends how you want to do it, if you just want to go full grind mode then people have gone from nothing to CP cap in less than a week. Others have gradually got there over the course of a year. Depends how many brain cells you wish to part with.

    Formula for calculating XP until cap: (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000) if x ≤ cap
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000 * 1.5) if x > cap
x is your current number of Champion Points.

How many L50 characters do you have? When the 2xXP event comes up, run a random normal with each. If you can realistically tank or heal, (don't be that guy), you queue times will be negligible.

500 to 720 is something like 84 Million XP, you can realistically farm at 2 Mill XP/hour (even higher probably) with just training gear and 100% Ambrosia drink so .. in 40/50 hours grinding you will be at your desired spot.

You'll probably need some food and a shower or 2 though.

That was what you needed to gain a Veteran Rank back in the day. They got rid of those almost 2 years ago, in the Dark Brotherhood patch. The CP formula is actually a progressive one, where each CP takes more than the next. When you pass the cap the needed XP jumps by 50%

    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000) if x ≤ cap

well I am at cap on xbox still and i have not played on there for over a year because i switched to PC, and definitely do not wear training gear at cp 500 unless you are specifically grinding somewhere.

but im at cp 620 right now on PC and that's with zero grinding just doing mostly BG's daily and doing pledges and a random vet maybe 3 days a week.

i probably play on average 3 hours a day, but play close to 8 saturday and sunday.

and i have been on PC for a year but i took a 6 month break, so i got to 620 with no grinding in about 5 or 6 months. and with double exp events coming up i plan on doing my daily pledges and random vet every day for those. i expect to be 720 in another 2 months, judging from how long it took on xbox and at the pace i been at so far (keeping in mind its slows down the higher you are also)

Better advice: if you truly desire cp and don't mind grinding here's my suggestion, multitask!

When I grind anything eg dolmens, new char, skyshards, chests etc, the best thing I find is to do another activity, usually a TV show or movie.

This massively helps as if you were to just be looking at your screen for hours on end, you'd become bored and also dislike it.

Make sure to wear full training and experience scrolls/pots
