How to properly go about quest content for end game players?

Quest content is some of the greatest you can get of any MMO in ESO but the only problem I have had for a while now is since having become a more late game player properly putting all my CP points in, investing in legendary gear and having a rotation of someone in a vet dungeon the quest content is so easy I often get bored on it and leave it to be finished another time though the story is interesting. I don't think ZOS has to fix this either cause I think we can fix it as players by finding ways to self nerf our selves. So then how would you all advise the best way to go about enjoying quests?

Do what the scrubs do! Okey; first disable all your CPs, Then you use random items you get from quest or mobs, then you drop buff food, use normal potions, don't slot a selfheal and don't block heavy attacks, dodge roll randomly and ONLY use a combination of light attack and heavy attacks because skills are useless xD and last! all attributes in health because the mobs hits too "hard". There! you now have a hard and fun time exploring overland! enjoy!

I did all the quests before I ever got involved in end-game content and had golded out gear and max CP. It was still really easy.

Questing and overland content isn't really meant for end-game players. The enjoyment factor is supposed to come out of reading the dialogue and getting emotionally invested in the stories.

If you do not like to read or get involved in stories then no amount of beefing up of the overland mobs will make questing interesting to you.

Difficultly of the content is irrelevant when it comes to overland in this game. If you are looking for a challenging, single-player questing experience, this game is not for you. It's not going to change to suit your vision.

The problem with questing is immersion, atleast for me. But I also haven't tried to run a quest line in a while. I feel like I would need to turn if zone and guild chats to gain some form of immersion again.

Naked w/o buffood. Esp when enlightenment is up. (No repaircosts \o/)
Spam skills that look cool, e.g. Reverse Slice. Or go w/o weapon, also looks cool.

Personally, i enjoy very much, that i can run around w/ an outfit hiding my nakedness and use "builds" that r made for being fun to play or looking cool, dont have repaircosts and dont burn thru foods or potions. Thus great challenge <> reward ratio, which makes it even more enjoyable.

What I like to do with overland content is tinker with weirdball builds. Most recently, I crafted an entire set of medium julianos gear and did the entire thieves guild and dark brotherhood questlines as a magicka assassin with destro staves on my Breton Nightblade. It shook things up quite a bit since those quests were mostly made for stamina builds :)

It wasn’t “hard”, but it was fun pretending to be Deadpool!

I’m trying to understand what quests you’re doing that requires rotations?

I feel that’s missing because as you say, you can nerf yourself but what ive experienced is a good amount of quests, story wise, for skill points doesn’t requires choices for balance and never any rotation.

The other part of that is consider some folks have made these builds and rotations because of how they like to play....and that’s fine....but it seems that as time passed, players started saying that is meta and necessary.

Devs feel into it and started nerfs and changes based off cookie cutter meta builds and now we are in a place where it’s considered required.

So maybe doing quests, some don’t want to change stuff around (skill bar wise) but I’m not for sure that anyone is dying or not just using weapon attacks and occasional skill here and there on story quests regardless of meta builds or randomly slotting stuff as long as they can sustain themselves.

    Suggestion:
Let off the throttle, and drive with one hand from time to time and cruise, to walk and enjoy some content outside of group content.

Remove all active CP, wear level 1 gear and weapons, white level, no enchantments. No food buffs. If it's still too easy, no passives either.

After that it would get a bit more complicated to nerf yourself further. I haven't tried all of that yet, only no CP, but it didn't really make a difference so I'll try the others when summerset comes out.

yep, that about sums it up...you cant quest as an endgame player unless you make a new toon to do it...thats the only way I was able to bear the morrowind quests...and even then it was pathetically easy....you cant unlearn what you know about the game

Simply put: There is no proper way.

The questing content design style in any themepark MMO is counter to the endgame progression/reward driven nature of what these players want and need.

For those who only want difficulty, it is simply not plausable to re-write large sections of the game for such a small part of the playerbase.

It's a pipedream, shouted by the greedy incessantly and is proof that these people cannot see the wood from the tree's, unconcerned with the bigger picture or the how's and why's, only what they want.

While I agree the story is the best part, an optional overland hardmode has been discussed and seems like a fun idea.

However I would love to see a PvE end game quest hub, centered on creating / rebuilding a fort or city. One with major quests locked behind dailies that have purpose, such as doing dailies for a shop keeper collecting wares in dungeons or trials eventually unlocking a shop to use. Helping local officials to build infrastructure,l through repeat quests to gather materials, perhaps daily PvP quests, which would help the local guard. There could even be a weekly where you have to defend the place from a daedric invasion ( or for the PvP oriented players, an Assault/Defend the keep style PvP map ) Something where you couldnt just rush through the content but putting the time in would show an actual progress to an environment, while offering more rewards.

Just a thought on how to improve end game.

I hit max cp mostly doing questing... and yeah it kind of sucks how easy it is. yet... it is also kind of relaxing to just burn through everything.

if I want more of a questing challenge I just start a new character and don't set cp. I made a character for each alliances and a warden for vvaadenfel questing.

Trying to do endgame content has a whole bunch of waiting around for enough people to be ready for something. I don't want to just stand about in the cities in that set up time.

Given how "difficulty" in eso works, i cant really imagine that going well.
    - snares go up to 70%
    - mobs/bosses hp and dmg done goes up by x10
    - tier of loot goes up by 1, so u get a ~1% chance to drop those training rubedite boots of magicka in golden
Even than, it wouldnt be more difficult. fights would just take longer and be more annoying.

    Maw + unfathomable + defilers

Daedric trickery is fun all on its own or maybe go it a dodge roll focused character. Another choice would be to use a destro staff if you are a stam character or 2 handed on a mag character.

New builds are very cheap. Explore that aspect of the game.

how about just using non optimal skills? - build a pair of skill bars with all the wacky skills that you never use normally - the undaunted skills, some of the fighters guild skills, maybe the soul drain skill

build some really wacky alternate version of your character using all the stuff that's non-optimal, non BIS, and just start with that...

I do miss the Veteran zones. They should have CP level zones as an option for those that want more of an overland challenge. We still have Vet dungeons. Why not optional Vet zones? Besides, it would be nice to get away from the forced overcrowding of the zone instances that artificially make the game look well populated with players.

Questing isn’t so much about efficient combat in this game, imo, so it doesnt really matter as much what gear you have on to do it. I like it that way.

Wrong. With combat that is too easy, I have no desire whatsoever to do the quest. I don't do normal diffuclty pledges...why would I do easy difficulty quests? Maybe if the writing were actually good...but aside from say The Witcher and a handful of other games, I have only rarely seen good writing in a video game(and never in this one)

While the easy difficulty is one factor, for me the immersion breaking nature of MMO is more of an impediment to questing. I hate, hate, hate when I'm slowly doing quests and then there's crazy characters jumping around in bath towels, dresses, and stupid hats casting lightning pools, orbs and such around. It just ruins it for me; I can't get into the quest, public dungeon, delve.

I'd like a tough vet overland, but really I'd prefer a solo overland instance. That's what I liked about the old vr zones, they were deserted and I could quest in peace.
