Hi!

ESO has a lot of issues, you'll find them all over the forums, I'm not going to list stuff again. And you're really
only fixing an issue regarding purchasing stuff? What a joke...

We’re getting PTS next week or so. Hold your derision in check till we see the real changes.

Actually what surprises me is how long the servers have already been down for what they have called a small fix of only 70MB.

I understand that is the client side, but they are only fixing the issue you stated above, and the downtime seems excessive for such a small fix.

Here's hoping they're really loading the jester event!

Does that mean the live servers will be playable for a month while the PTS does the heavy lifting :)
(and they find all the bugs that will go live on the 21 May anyway!)

the last 2 maintenances have been really quick (less than 3 hours) so not sure what the problem is this time.

As a Network Admin, I am well aware of this.

However, the last 2 patches had far more extensive notes than a single line (1 fix) and were at most 2 hours of downtime.

In before: We recently ran into an UNEXPECTED error while patching main client with something so stupidly small. Server will now be down for another 168 hours.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

Well, as an admin you should also know that not everything is communicated to clients. :) For...reasons.

    It's moot anyway, server's up.

Coders got stuck eating 'soft' CC spam sandwich and couldn't make it to the office.

Everytime they get a hit on the elusive bugs the bug just cloaks away and doesn't take the fix code so it doesn't really matter.

To be fair it seems like the siege arch and malfunction bug that returned from the dark ages got fixed last wednesday, so at least there is some progress.

    Patch notes are patch notes.

If you don't want people to comment on them (see Title of thread), then make them more detailed.
Point is, a simple change vs 40 odd changes in around double the time begs the question of what else is happening.

If you read my comments in their entirety, you would have noted that I wasn't having a go at anyone. In fact you would have noted the playful hopefulness in it.

Please keep your opinions about what I should know to yourself :) ... please don't take a fence, I need it to keep the dog in.

Wow. Well okay then, Sunshine. :)

I'll just leave you and your "playful" (which wasn't apparent else I wouldn't've responded as I did) hope, along with the fence (ours dig under) and wish you a looser knicker day! :p

It's not easy being a devie. One little adjustment to a line could cause a codepocalyps and require several hours of revising before the 'live' world blows up.

Plus they're saying they fixed one little thing, who knows what else they've added without telling us.

That is the point of "Patch Notes" and Test Environments.

If ZOS are rolling out updates without testing on a backup copy of the db first, I would be seriously concerned.

But test environments and Live ones for some reason do not always behave the same, & MMOs seem to have huge inconsistencies between the two

ZOS often seems to put assets in not related to patch notes, that's why we always get new things from data mining every update they do.

There a a thousand reasons I disagree with your argument on this, but I am not planning on getting into an argument over the correct methods to test and apply updates, and what is involved in doing so.

The dev's are probably at home sleeping while the network engineers and systems administrators deploy the patch.

The point is simple. Patch ?Notes exist for a reason, and the patch notes were likely incomplete, because I suspect they started the deployment of assets for Summerset, and listing that in the notes would have negated this entire thread, that is the point I have been trying to make.

As for test environments vs live environments, the test environment should be a replica of the live environment, especially when dealing with anything on the scale of an MMO,

Hence the reason the PTS exists.

They dont fix anything serious. Not unless its easy to fix or enough people rage. Most of the time they do not even acknowledge it. You can probably count on one hand how many times they mention the lag or performance on the forums. And not really anywhere else either. Ignore it til it goes away :dizzy:

    Indeed.
A weekly update only to do this:

The Elder Scrolls Online v3.3.10 is a small incremental patch that fixes the issue where you would receive multiple UI errors in-game after pre-purchasing the newly-announced Chapter, Summerset. The size of this patch is just 70MB.

    I expected more.
I hope that future weekly updates will be better.
There are still 2 months until Summerset's release, there is no reason to forsake the live updates...
