A serious issue

I've become aware of people in voice/text chat offering "illicit services" for gold. I'm not talking about fake boom boom with their characters either. They're using voice and text chat to...excite the person.

Unfortunately(?), the act itself is done through whisper but the offers of "gold to make you feel good" are public.

This may have always been an issue but especially with free weekends this problem increases. I'd like to see more game moderators playing during these events tbh.

Xbox one has gold sellers out there, they tend to be scammers that try to steal your identity. Had seen some that fell into that trap and had their info stolen because of this... never buy gold.

The game is restricted towards minors . The M rating is for Mature not children . This would be a parenting issue because ZoS is in the clear . If parents choose to let a minor play without supervision then someone should be punishing the parents for neglect . The forums are the only place a PG rating policy is enforced . Parents need to parent as there many subjects in game not meant for children .

Lets not pretend here, there is a huge leap from a minor being exposed to those things, and a minor being exposed to actual people virtually soliciting them for sexual relations, whether its for gold in game or money outside game. It's harmful to minors. Hormone fueled 13-16 yr olds empowered by anonymity are victims if they engage in behavior, virtually or not.

Its not a game for minors, its not advertised to minors, its not rated for minors. It is not ZOS's fault or the player bases fault for a parent allowing a minor to play this game.

Again, minors aren't legally allowed to play this game. They are violating the ToS when they install this game and agree to the ToS under false pretenses, which is a bannable offense.

So since the parents are to be found at fault, how can they, since they had so little control of their child while online? Your own argument collapses on itself here. You say Zos isn't at fault for allowing this to happen, but legally in the real world we live in today, both parties could be charged on different charges. If you feel weirded out about the idea of maybe you ERP'd with children, that's your own path to figure out. The community this game touts is accepting, caring at times, and we should support protecting kids. Looking at this from a legal standpoint it is very ugly for all involved.

Most jurisdictions ban the sale of M-rated games to minors. If parents circumvent those bans and buy these games for their kids regardless, they are at fault.

There is no way to know the age of the person behind the keyboard. You simply cannot refute the black and white nature of a minor not being legally able to consent, and that the parents and Zos both have responsibility.

I can safely assume they are of an age to play an M rated game, cuz theyre playing an M rated game. ZOS fulfills their responsibility by posting warnings and what not on the game cover and in the TOS, legal info, and Code of Conduct. The responsibility falls squarely on the parent for allowing their child to access M rated content.

By zenimax puting an age reatriction stamp on the game it should be enough warning for the parent to know it is not suitable for children, if the parent still decides to buy the game regardless of the big ESRB rating on the box you are exposing your child to mature content and adult situations from in game and from real people since we have zone chat. for instance somebody was having a good time with his girlfriend and forgot to mute his or her mic on zone chat and it was horrible, and im not saying it is right or that im ok with that, but we are playing an adult game that was intended for an adult audience and when we live on an adult world things like that happen. Just to point out an adult situation not game related, this one guy was venting on how he was being cheated on and now his *** area was on fire... So about that moan for gold well... i just cringe for whoever pay for those services.

These same kids can go out and - with minimal effort - find a cam show with actual, real-time sexual acts performed, because the internet and search engines exist. Asking ZOS to moderate this sort of thing would require some pretty invasive practices, such as monitoring /whisper and mail content without prior warning or consent. All things they're legally allowed to do, of course, but in an M-rated game... seems to me that causes a whole lot more issues than it solves.

To be honest, this feels a bit like pearl-clutching to me. I agree that more ZOS GMs being present in general would be great - I've literally never once seen one, ever. I also even agree they should step up their presence during major events with hordes of new players, because if there's an area this game is sorely lacking in, it's good community outreach and transparency. But insisting that ZOS become responsible for what people do in private in a what SHOULD be a mature audiences only game seems like an unnecessary overreach.
