Lack of children is immersion breaking.

This has always bothered me about ESO. Why are there no children? The argument that it would give the game a higher rating is invalid as many other games including the most popular MMO of all time WoW has them and it rated T. Other arguments about them being abused or killed can be solved by making them invincible just like town guards. I find it a huge break in immersion to wander these large zones and cities and not ever see a single child.

Judging by the frequency with which this topic is raised, there seem to be an awful lot of gamers concerned if there aren't children in their games. I honestly can't say that it has ever bothered me. My sense of immersion in WoW, for example, isn't enhanced by the kids that run around in Stormwind or who have lost something under the water in Redridge Mountains.

I agree completely with this thread. It's not the first time, or maybe even the hundredth time, this topic has been brought up. Maybe children will be added like home storage space was added a year after houses were added.

There could be a quest involving an Aedra based mission for once. It can start after you finish the original main story questline when its safe to bring the children out of hiding.

I don't see what would be wrong in adding some in tastefully and respectfully to add to the sense that Tamriel is a living world. By all mentions make them non-interactable, there are plenty of adults to prey on. Not even a need to add any voice acting.

Why are children necessary? No one can reproduce, which isn't a problem, since no one ever really dies! Need proof, go jump off a cliff, you'll be just fine! Or, do the assassination quests for the DB... trust me, I killed the same guy probably 50 times... he.just.keeps.coming.back! In a universe like that, why are children important?

There are a number of NPC's that turn a blind eye to nefarious actions. Not a stretch to add any kids to that list, especially if they are non-interactable.

They will not add children I suspect as people going around killing children with Blade of Woe, just would not sit well with some folks..

Children are horrible terrible little creatures. Filthy and despicaple. This is common knowledge. ZOS aims to create a family friendly game and this sort of vile debauchery simply won't do. Im sorry to have to say this to you, but if you want children in games you should go play Skyrim mkay, children has no place in ESO, it just aint right.

There's plenty of children on the forums to make up for their absence in-game.

I think there's little that so many agree on more than most of us do not want children in ESO judging from the last many threads about this.

I was this close to making a thread about this because I was surprised to see that the children in WoW weren't annoying. I guess it just comes down to writing, voice acting and the sensitive question whether children should be part of the justice system or not.
About the immersion breaks, I would say that children are not the first thing that come to mind that break immersion...

hated them in skyrim and would hate them in eso just the same.

This is because Bethesda wrote so many of the npcs in Skyrim to be weirdly rude and condescending. As much as I *** on Zenimax, they tend to write characters a bit better in my opinion.

I'd love to see some adorable kids from other races than just nords, imperials, and bretons (like in Skyrim). I'd love to learn more about family dynamics in Tamriel.

That being said, this is never happening. They're not going to "waste" resources on new models unless it involves something the player can kill, because this is a themepark MMO.

I think it's because WoW's not afraid to be cute and adorable when the situation calls for it, while many other games feel the need to make kid characters sarcastic and rude for some reason.

No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

If there were a bunch of player characters running around, I'd hide my children too. Innocent young eyes don't need to be exposed to wanton slaughter of innocent civilians in the city streets or worse, zone chat. *shudders*

Though, the empty cradle furnishings are, kind of terrifying in their implications...

Well there is a quest, a Morrowind one I think, that had a young Dunmer that looked to be in his late teens.

As long as they didn't give them any dialogue I don't really mind. Thankfully other mmo's I play that do have them also have an option to turn off character voices, so I don't have to hear the same annoying dialogue over and over and over and over.......
