Yes! Like any expansion in any (and every other game), all new features require purchasing the expansion. You can't get everything for nothing!

It's not a guarantee; traditionally they've been pretty good at keeping anything that affects game balance from being exclusive, and they've previously stated they'd be adding these things to the normal crafting areas. The home-version might be exclusive and/or ridiculously expensive though. I expect some kind of catch.

I actually highly doubt it, they said you can craft them for Armour Sets and armour sets are located all over the World.

My guess is they are going to make it similar to the transmute station. Those who have the chapter can go to the stations placed around the map in Summerset and craft. Those who don't, can purchase it for a ridiculous amount from the crown store or furnishing merchant to add it to their homes.

The chapter needs to add value to be considered worth buying and this is similar to how the warden class is only available to Morrowind owners. Jewel crafting and the Psijic order skill line would make it worth buying the chapter.

Anyone who wants to buy their strengths is probably bad and making this a standard is stupid. Selling DLCs, cosmetics, utility etc is more than enough. You know they can keep balance separate from monetization, and the only reason they don't is because people buy it anyway, and it takes SWBF2 levels of outrage to change it.

May as well add vMA weapons because its not a soup kitchen ye?

Should be a base game feature, even transmutation can be done without Morrowind by going to someone's house with a station.

This is a bad argument. It’s like saying WoW is selling “power” with each expansion since the level cap is increased (only if you buy it) and there are additional skills/ gear caps.

It will probably be like transmute stations where you need the content to access it but if you are rich enough you can access it from your home without dlc

Lol what? VMA isn’t free, everyone has paid for the dlc or is paying a subscription to get a chance to farm those weapons

LOL. Bad example as you need to pay for DLC or sub to access vMA. ZOS can do whatever they want as long as people are willing to pay for it. Its just as simple as that.

I would suspect that in order to craft or add the traits using the transmute, then you would have to have the chapter.

Question is will they allow people to purchase from crafters and use the pieces without owning the chapter. My guess is that they would as it does make the new items available to all.

You will only be able to craft and upgrade jewllery if you own Summerset.

If you don't own the expansion, you will still be able to trade for jewllery with other players who can craft it.

No MMO has ever worked like this.

Expansions always come with new gameplay features. If you want the new features, you need to buy the expansion. It's pretty simple.

If you can't afford $30, then you should probably be out looking for a job rather than playing an MMO.

Without profit, studios can't expand their business, can't hire new people and can't do all that advertisements. I'm ok with jewelcrafting behind a expansoin because you can even get meta sets without them. You can do a lot of thing without all features on DLC/chapters, please don't expect to get everything with 10 bucks/month. Investments need profit, always.

If it functions like all other crafting skills, limiting it to Summerset would be a disaster.

Imagine the nodes only spawning only on Summerset. All players there would be fighting over them.

If they spawn all over Tamriel but non Summerset players can't use them...

Just make it a base game update, like poison crafting.

As a marketed feature, it's going to be a system exclusive to Summerset content. In what ways, we'll find out soon enough.

Transmutation was not a marketed feature of Clockwork City so it's not a lateral comparison.

You can transmute items if you don't own Clockwork City if you or your guild has a Transmute station. You can craft from stations attuned to DLC sets that you do not own.

Since jewelry will be added to crafting stations that already exist, I don't see how this would NOT be part of the base game.

And yes, as with any other craft, jewelers will be able to sell their wares to other players who do not own the DLC.

I wonder about the transmute or if because the Jewelry crafting adds in 6 additional traits. You have to know the traits to use Transmute, so if you do not know Jewelry Crafting you can not add the traits.

Or is it like the glyphs since the three traits we have already are part of that, so will the new traits also be applied glyphs. Even then you will have to learn the new ones to make them, but could you apply a glyph that is made. all questioons to be answered.

To be fair, they can make the stations unusable if you don't have Summerset. We already have thieves troves in base game zones that you can't open without the DLC.

I don't know if that's what they're going to do, but they could.
