Proposition for Ice DPS to be relevant:

Currently, in game, we have four types of damage that Magicka users possess:

Fire
Lightning
Ice
Magic

There is also four types of damage that Stamina users posses:

Poison
Disease
Bleed
Physical

Since Bleed damage ignores all physical resistances- couldn't we change Ice Damage's "Chilled" proc to ignore all spell resistances? That way, Ice builds would become more relevant... and this would seem closer to balance between Magicka and Stamina users. Thoughts?

First of all chilled needs to be given the burning treatment.

Currently as it stands, chilled is a 'global' effect on any given target. This means that multiple people applying chilled will overwrite eachothers chilled debuff. In the end, only one person gets damage from it at any given time. Concussion has the same problem. It would be great if all of these are made individual, just as burning is.

Chilled and concused only do one tick of damage per proc. Meaning that even when separate sources apply chilled or concused, the single hit of damage always hits and they just refresh the debuff of the target, ie the minor maim or minor vulnerability. Burning is the only dot out of the three.

    Editted to prevent misinformation.

Chilled and concussed would benefit greatly from becoming a DoT like burning though, so I'll leave that there.

I've noticed an attempt at balance. Light attack damage increased by 20% and heavy reduced 20%. That changed things a bit in the right direction. I think it's usable but a little less so now that the asylum staves for fire and lightning apply minor main every 3rd or 2nd cast of force shock. Kind of gave away what made the staff shine. -_-

It's not meant to be pure damage but offer more utility. Which it does. I think it could use some work though.

Also remove the taunt from trifocus and add it to an unused skill like the frost version of destructive touch.

Instead of the taunt, just give trifocus a DoT buff or something.

Nay. Magic users are already potent without need of additional penetration. To put it simply, you have advantage of the ranged combat. Magic and melee cannot be compared. Stamina users should have more options to weaken their opponents in close.

2 of my tanks use ice, and it is so much fun, especially on my warden!!!

is it as good as sword and shield?
    on a technical level “no”
but on a fun factor level “yes”
IMO the warden was made for this and it is super fun.

how about a magicka based tanking skill line?
it would require the use of frost staff, but you have to unlock perks to make the frosty stick have tank capabilities just like a heavy attack while using a 1H and shield doesnt taunt the boss for 15 seconds you have to use puncture skill; otherwise you are just attacking and not taunting and not messing with the flow of the activity.

Ah ok, I always just assumed they were all DoTs. Nevermind then.

I don't mind what happens to ice as long as it is a DPS option. In TES it is destruction magic which is a damage school.

I wish they would introduce an extra item that can merge with staves( and orb, grimoire, rune stone or whatever).
Make it replace the offensive passive with a tanky one and with the added item slot it should be on par with sword and shield.

I already said something about Ice / Frost Warden in another thread.

I just want to see a passive that increases Frost damage against Chilled targets by 33%, 66%. Warden would benefit a lot by this and overall Frost Staff would become more useful for DPS.

Chilled status - target takes X% extra damage for 3 seconds, cooldown of 7 seconds.
Suddenly, Ice Tanks become more useful than ever before.

Also, Ice Damage could scale up vs a target you’ve taunted. Your follow up Cold attacks could ignore resistances for a bit or something?
