You haven't paid anything yet. Physical edition pre-orders won't be charged until right before it is shipped.
Digital pre-purchases are cleared, complete payments for that edition.

Aside from being a bonus, the Senche also helps fulfill the 'immediate access' part of the purchase agreement by offering something up front.

If you are purchasing the digital version of The Elder Scrolls® Online (ESO), by clicking "I agree" on the Payment and Review page, you agree that we are providing you immediate access to the digital content so your purchase is final.

The way they did it in the past was that you showed proof of purchase, they activated the items and set them to expire once the physical edition was to arrive.

There was a shipping grace period, but if you didn't enter the in-box code within a week or so, the items were removed/deactivated.

Participating retailers do have the option to charge immediately, but many have existing policies about products not yet released.

I do think going forward they should allow for physical edition pre-purchases through the Bethesda Store so that people who want to spend the money now can spend the money now.

Nobody received anything last time before the registration for PC Early Access. Morrowind and Discovery Pack codes were delivered slightly before May 22, 2017 for PC digital purchases. At that time, PC Morrowind box set buyers received access to the Collector's Edition and Discovery Pack by registering and showing an invoice (pre-order) or a receipt (pre-purchase).

You can print an invoice from any order you've placed on Amazon but that is not a receipt of payment rendered. Amazon will charge you in mid-May as per their Pre-order Price Guarantee.


Looking at the Buy Now website options, "immediate" is not used in the box set copy.

However, the Summerset Editions website article does erroneously say,
"Finally, pre-purchasing the Physical Collector's Edition will grant you the Queen's Bounty Pack and immediate access to the Nightmare Senche Mount."
Which @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom should probably issue a correction for that bolded part. And maybe take the 'pre-' off the 'purchasing' part on both pages if no actual purchasing will be occurring for the box until May.
