Should we have a tab-target only option?

It is clear that many people do enjoy the crosshair and active combat. However, some people lack the finesse and/or ping/computer to take full advantage of that system. With the advent of titles like Ashes of Creation that will offer both active and tab-target combat perhaps Elder Scrolls should do the same.

The idea for the system I am proposing would be similar to Guild Wars 2 and still "feel" active. However, it wouldn't punish players with huge pings. For example, they wouldn't have so much trouble landing a dizzying swing as they do now.

This idea would also help the less fortunate. It would enable them to play at a more competitive level without punishing them for their disability.

Please try to keep it civil and remember the forum rules.

    No thank you.

It's hard for me to take any of your threads seriously. They're almost all some variation of "Come see me get a reaction out of people".

    Active combat 100%.

I've played games with tab-targeting and quit them. Tabbed combat promotes lazy play style and would likely be more efficient than active combat due to more reliably hitting your enemy. Basically forcing players who want to remain competitive to use tab-targeting.

Uhmm we already have Tab Targeting in the game. You use the, Tab key, to cycle through your targets.

And, we have Cursor Mode too. Just to head off your next thread.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

To be fair the current tab-targeting system doesn't seem to work very well. Either that or I don't know how to use it.

Everyone, please remember the OP's MO.

The OP likes to post controversial topics, fervently debating his side, and reporting all off-topic and baiting comments. So if you want your post to hang around, make it relevant, but don't imagine this is a genuine debate.

Personally, I rarely use the Tab-Targeting option unless I'm tracking someone who wants to play ring-around-the-resource and then its really handy. Otherwise, I just don't bother. But that might be because I'm often doing raid v raid fighting, so I don't have to just keep track of one person. Perhaps I'd use it more in Battlegrounds.

We have tab target that sets priority target.

As far as the old school training wheels tab target those days are gone. Newer games with decent designs will not use training wheels.

If a player doesn’t like it there are still games they can play.

I’ve known and played with disabled players including one who’s symptoms were similar to Parkinson’s and he adapted to this game and it’s targeting very well.

Do you do anything other than create threads you already know the answer to?

Well, someone made a thread about wanting to display both weapons on our characters at the same time. I’m sure if you call them now, they’ll be there by the time he makes his own thread about it.

That's OK, when I accidental enable Cursor mode, it just means my character dies as I lose control of them...

As for the Tab thing, your supposed to be able to use the Tab key to cycle through various targets in the game. It is only useful if you have lots of targets in front of you, like in PvP. In most PvE, you don't need to Tab Target, either just look, or use AoE skills

For me it's quicker to manually find the target than fumble around trying to get it to the appropriate target anyway.

I prefer active-combat. Tab combat is just way too slow after playing games like Tera, Revelations Online, etc...

I just with the tab-targeting we already have would actually work, i.e. if i have three valid targets in front of me and one of them is tab-targeted, then using a single-target skill would hit the targeted enemy, and not one of the others.

But thats the excitement of ESO combat, being surrounded by enemies and having your meteor go off on some random frog in the background instead. :D
