Should ZoS disable the API?

In the beginning, the API and add-ons were a selling feature that ZoS trumpeted like the White Tower.

Today I get a popup I have to acknowledge denying all responsibility for API functions, demanding that if I have any issue to take to customer service that i disable all addons, and requiring addon makers to proclaim ZoS's disavowal on their addon pages.

Turn it off, ZoS! If you aren't going to support a feature you put in the game, take it out.

Oh, and the ultimate irony is that I had to turn them all off while trouble shooting a continuous UI error that was popping up tonight that... isn't addon related. Still pops up after turning all of them off, quitting the game and restarting it. Asked in guild, seems to be a common issue.

They support the API but not what people make out of it and they never did. How can Zenimax support a piece of code that does not come from them ? The AddOn Author might have made a mistake, something goes wrong and does not work at all or not correctly. No Software developing company who opens functionality through API´s supports the product of a third party.

No software.... WHAT?! Without listing hundreds of software developers here, let me just point you towards Oracle API customer service...

In any case, i never said they should support third party products. What I said is that they will not provide YOU with any support AT ALL without you having first turned off all of your addons. That has certainly not always been the case.
