In game Report Ticket #171101-003504
There's a fairly serious bug with the way PVP players can gain transmutation stones through the Rewards of the Worthy. As intended, players are supposed to receive a Gold Uncracked Transmutation Geode from the first Reward of the Worthy gained on that character, and from random Rewards of the Worthy after that. I've seen this work - my EP MagDK earned 4 rewards of the worthy, got her geode from the first reward and another from the fourth.
Its also possible and intended for players to PVP on multiple characters, receiving a gold uncracked transmutation geode on each of the first rewards of the worthy earned on that character. A skilled PVP could theoretically earn 8-14 such first rewards of the worthy geodes, provided the player was skilled enough to get 20k AP on each character to earn the reward of the worthy.
The bug here is that Reward of the Worthy mails are not locked to the character who gains the AP to earn them as long as the player does not open the mail on the character. If the player logs on to another character and opens the mail, the Reward of the Worthy grants that other character a Gold Uncracked Transmutation Geode as though it were the first reward of the worthy that character earned for the day - even if the character never earned any AP.
Since this came up on a thread about gaining transmutation stones and I hate to report things on hearsay, I tested it out tonight. ZOS, I'll be upfront about exactly how many extra stones I gained, and you are more than welcome to take whatever disciplinary action you deem necessary for me doing this exploit for testing purposes, including removing the stones I gained.
The Test: I earned 5 Rewards of the Worthy mails on my main PVP toon, an EP MagDK. Thank you DC and AD for some awesome fights in the Chalman -> Bleakers ->Aleswell corridor! I only opened the first mail with this character and did not open the other 4 mails.
Expected results: My EP MagDK should have received a gold uncracked transmutation geode. Mails opened by other characters should be normal rewards of the worthy, though with a chance to obtain an uncracked geode.
Actual Results
First Mail - EP MagDK who earned the Rewards - Gold Uncracked Geode = 4 stones
Second Mail - DC Stam Sorc who hasn't been in Cyrodiil since she got caltrops - Gold Uncracked Geode = 15 stones
Third Mail - EP Warden who's never been to Cyrodiil - Gold Uncracked Geode = 4 stones
Fourth Mail - AD MagSorc who hasn't PVPed in months - Gold Uncracked Geode = 5 stones
Fifth Mail - Level 5 EP Nightblade who can't even go to Cyrodiil yet - Gold Uncracked Geode = 4 stones
Total Results - 5 Gold Uncracked Geodes - 32 stones
Conclusion: Players who PVP with one character are able to open Rewards of the Worthy on characters other than the character than earned the AP, allowing the player to gain the benefit of it being the "first reward of the worthy" and get the gold uncracked transmutation geodes assigned to the first reward. I gained 5 Rewards of the Worthy on one character, opened them on five different characters including one that is too low level to take into Cyrodiil and got the full benefits as if I had earned 20k AP with each of them.
Now, its my opinion that this is an exploit, since it bypasses the mechanic which is intended to limit the gold transmutation geodes to the first reward of the worthy and only randomly afterward earned by a single character. From my testing, I received the benefits of the first rewards of the worthy on characters that I had not earned the AP on to receive the reward.
To ZOS - this seems a fairly serious bug that compromises some of the limits you've set on player abilities to farm transmutation stones. Again, you are more than welcome to remove the extra stones I gained from testing this bug or whatever disciplinary action you deem necessary.
To PVP players - Have some respect for your own honor and skill. If you don't have the skill to gain 20K AP on a character, don't open a reward of the worthy on that character like you earned the AP to get that geode.
