DK questions

So, I just came back to the game after a year I think, and have been wondering are there any good 2h Dk builds or is tanking a better option?

StamDKs (normally dual wield in PVE) are very strong atm in PVE. They have very powerful heavy attacks and the game is more heavy attack focused that it used to be.

They are the easiest way to get very high DPS, Nightblades have a higher ceiling but its much harder to achieve.

They are struggling a bit in PVP though, where you would use two hander, because they have trouble closing gaps on people, forcing them into tankier builds.... or gankier builds.

They are still the best tanks in the game though, but their tanking is more magicka based.

Would a stam tank be a viable option? Or maybe a health tank? Also why do many DKs pick dual wielding over 2h weapons?

DK is the best tank class with warden being the next best option. Both have positives and negatives but both are very good. You can tank on the same character merely by switching skills and gear.

Most people use dual wield because it offers more damage in a sustained fight than two handed weapons but they are still viable and fun.

My stam dk tank is basicaly a dps in heavy armour, you could call it a pve solo build

max resistance and 25 to 32k health depending on weather I’ve got my heath enchanted plague doctor set on for vet content... don’t do that much anymore as I prefer feeling like a god in normal :)

At the moment it’s a two handed axe/ sword and sheild
Hundings rage and four piece dreugh king slayer (inc jewellery) with Selene or lord warden depending on the content

Huge fun, the guild makes use of her services to get new players through dlc dungeons

What abilities and passives would you say I should invest in first?

Passives wise I would just go with what unlocks first but try to get them evenly across the three class skill lines and then the same for weapons and armour, for a dk they are pretty much all usfull, if in doubt the skills advisor seems pretty good to be honest

Skills wise heavy attacks should be part of the basic rotation, then it’s things like wrecking blow and brawler, skills 1 and 3 in two handed, this will get you past most pve content such as questing and even normal dungeons, from the sword and shield skills 1 and 3 which you’ll morph to pierce armour and absorb magic come in realy handy once you have two bars to play with

Class skills it’s ardent flame venom claw, skill 2, and skill 3 noxious breath for a great dot and to reduce target armour. You won’t find many stam dk that don’t have those two

The build as it stands is neither the best tank nor dps, what is is though is a massive bruiser that can survive a supprisingly amount of punishment... just don’t get cocky as you deffinately not immortal

The current set up is 5 hundings rage, 4 dreugh king slayer inc jewelry then 2 piece selen’s visage, all divines with a couple of small pieces sturdy, all enchants are stamina or weapon damage

The for weapons it’s a sharpened two handed axe with flame damage, mostly because I like things going whump in little clouds of flame. The back bar is an infused axe with crusher and a shield reinforced with health.... mostly because I happened to have one lol

I also keep a set of plague doctor with full health glyphs as well as a 2 piece set of lord warden, in case on rare occasions I do vet content

Take every passive for your class, race, weapons and armour as well as undaunted

    Front bar (this never changes)
Molten armaments, brawler, wrecking blow, reverse slice and rally, ultimate is take flight because I just like it but you could have flawless dawnbraker for a damage boosting passive although I find it makes little diffrence

    Back bar
Volatile armour, venomous claw, noxious breath, pierce armour and draw breath for it’s inteupt effect, ultimate is down to you but I like standard of might or corrosives armour which is a good panic button

Swap out dragons blood if you need more healing

    CP
    Green
    Mooncalf 65
    Tenacity 64
    Healthy 27
Shadow ward 82 wth two spare in warlord for no real reason

    Blue
    Physical Weapons expert 47
    Master at arms 51
Thaumaturge 20 as we have a few dot effects
    Precise strikes 40
    Piercing is 38
Mighty 43 with a spare point in elemental expert

    Red
    Ironclad 40
    Spellshield 10
    Hardy 43
    Elemental defender 43
    Thick skinned 9
    Quick recovery 43
    Heavy armour focus 52

    Hope this helps
