Returning Player - Constant Patches

Greetings,
(Attempted) returning player from a few months after launch so my client is obviously massively out of date and I expect a hefty update.
I'll preface this with: My internet connection is dire. 1gb takes about 40m to 1 hour to download and I can't run it overnight.

The launcher has so far downloaded a 39gb, 2 or 3 x 9gb, 7gb, several 5gb-ish and multiple 4gb and less patches. I have downloaded close to 100gb and it's taken me a week.

So my questions are:
1. How do i know how much is to go? The launcher has gotten to 100% at least 5 times if not more and just keeps going.
2. Is this normal? It seems to be applying every patch ever deployed in order they were released!
3. Should I just give up and try a new client download?
.
Thanks
Nev.

You might have run into an error, something that might require closing and restarting or possibly require a repair after you finish downloading. If you've been gone this long, I think just doing a fresh install is the best way to go.

Also you should be aware legacy support for an older graphic standard and 32-bit clients have since been dropped.

I think a fresh install is around 80GB download with morrowind. I dont know how there update system works. It may have to update one patch after another.IE: Update> install>update> install which is kind of primitive.

    Current game version is: eso.live.3.3.8.1567568

So if you are pretty far off that, you may want to just do a fresh install.

Thanks both. I will just bite the bullet and go for a fresh install.

I have the game on a second computer, a laptop, which I don't update every week. It's usually just like one update. Not sure if you need to do launcher updates too though.

Usually conflicting launchers auto-update, at least from my experience. If it doesn't, it'll definitely throw patch errors. Normally I got the patch manifest error, but being so far out of date- that's completely out of my experience. But an updated launcher is a happy launcher.
