Motives Behind the Alliances

Hi,
I was wonder what the motives of the alliances are as well as agendas. I am having trouble on deciding what alliance to “main” because I do not know what they value or wish to accomplish.
Right now I am intrigued by the Ebonheart Pact because of Jorunn because he seems like a cool character.

crashen17b14_ESO✭✭✭Covenant is also the (seemingly) most cosmopolitan alliance. Yes the armies are made up primarily of orcish and redguard warriors and breton knights and battlemages, but you see tons of civilians of every race. Especially in daggerfall and wayrest.
Mainly this is because the Covenant is also very merchant/trade based. Which makes sense, since Emeric is a merchant-king.
What this boils down to, is that you can easily justify nearly any race being a member of the Covenant, since they are motivated more by gold, politics and trade than idealogy or racial supremacy.0
