Is Caluurion’s Legacy the new "Viper Sting" for magic users?

So in a small discussion last night, I thought about how the Caluurion’s Legacy Set is simply a magic version of Vipers Sting (but harder hitting plus a status effect with longer cool down). Since so many people cried about Viper Sting (I did...........shame) being an instant damage with no way to counter, it was nerfed to a DOT.

This is simply a thought I had. I do not sway one way or the other. Your thoughts?

      Don't really comparable, imo.

Viper was/is unavoidable damage on a short cooldown. Calurion's is very avoidable, but much more damage and on a longer cooldown. It's more of a magicka Velidreth, imo.

@DeadlyRecluse Is it unavoidable? I haven't had it in my death recap. I was only listening to others who were hit by it and was curious to know the community's awareness and thought on it since I am a little ignorant on it myself.

No, Caluurion's IS avoidable. It's a projectile that can be dodged or blocked--that's what makes the comparison to Velidreth more apt, imo. Velidreth and Caluurion's both hit real hard, but can be avoided.

Viper is more constant, consistent damage throughout a fight--Caluurion and Veli are more "half-your-health-gone-lol" if you make a mistake.

Don't get me wrong, they're all annoying sets that should be deleted : P

I almost spit my drink at your last sentence. Thank you. I was going to try and farm the set tonight to try it myself. I am still very much attached to my Shackle and Amber Plasm on my Mageblade in PVP but I was willing to look around.

They are both proc sets, but the comparison pretty much ends there. Caluurions is a fun set, but the procs function very different. Dont get me wrong, it is a powerful set, but the projectile is very slow and really easy to avoid if you see it. There is also a delay between the set proc'ing and the projectile actually firing. It is not capable of the same instant burst that vipers is.

It's the same *** in a different colour.
They made the mistake once they should've learned that 6k free damage needs to be removed and people need to learn how to kill again without crutching on non scaling stupid procs

Lol. I’ve killed people with just a concealed weapon. Not just 1 guy. Multiple. Almost anyone with 20k ish health. Once they get 25k I need soul harvest but that’s it. Seen a 12k caluurion proc on someone last night. Not as consistent and terrible at range but definitely as bursty or more than Viper.

When i first read what this set does I immediately said the same thing, feels kind of like a Magicka Viper. I just finished farming it for myself and a few buddies last night. Going to give a go in BG's with it.

It’s more like a Magicka velidreth if anything, shooting a magic projectile.

It's a blockable and dodgeable projectile

Viper is an instant dot effect. That cannot be blocked or dodged

          They function very differently

It has a really long and transparent animation giving you plenty of time to react (dodge, block, reflect, absorb). Just try to watch out for it and you'll quickly learn how to easily avoid it.

Viper was, and is still unavoidable damage.
