DK help

What are some of DK's strength and weakness and what is better magicka or stam? I am kinda torn between the stam and mag along with what race to pick.

DK strengths are damage over time and tankiness. Both stam and mag DKs have skills that rely on DOTs. DKs also have a lot of crowd control and buffs that make them very effective tanks.

Stam DKs use poison and weapons, MagDKs use fire and staves, unless tanking.

    Race Choices are standard.
Stam: Redguard, Orc, Imperial, bosmer, Khajiit, Nord
Magicka: dunmer ( extra fire damage) Altmer, and breton

2 handed is generally more of a PVP thing, but it will be fine in overland content. Might take more practice to use it in group content, since most stam DPS in PVE uses bow/DW.

    PvE:

DK makes a good tank and stamDPS. Stay away from MagDPS on a DK, its melee and one of the lowest with bad sustain.

    PvP:

StamDK is pretty bad as a whole, it does sort of OK as a pugmasher in heavy, not because its a DK, but because of generic stam stuff+decent sustain. MagDK is great for duels, OK for BGs/smallgroup and bad for OW.

What specifically makes a magicka DK bad?

DPS: Low sustain and lowish damage, and it takes a melee spot, which generally have high damage. OW solo: Low sustain and mobility

Basically, MagDK DPS rotations take a lot of resources to sustain compared to other melee damage dealers, making them less efficient at end game content like trials where efficiency matters.

You can do excellent DPS with a magDK, sufficient to clear all the content. Its just that in comparison to some other classes, MagDKs are less efficient and don't reach the same high numbers in the melee DPS role.

couldn't have said it better myself. Basically go for magDk pvp, and stamDK for pve.

Be careful, though, for mDK in PVP. You'll pretty much shine in duels- but you'll lack sustain for open world. Especially in group play. Trying to catch up to the fight (or escape if your group is overwhelmed) is somewhat tedious as well. Your only form of major expedition is on a gap closer. If you can gap close to an enemy- you've already reached the fight... and you don't want to gap close to an enemy in order to escape. :D
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.
