Last Two Days, Dumped to login Screen instead of Character Screen when logging out

For the last two days my game has gotten stuck trying to log out every character to the character swap screen and dumped me to login screen. Error 303 Timeout. Anyone else?

What could possibly be causing a time out while logging out of character? Writing to saved variables?

I've been having the same issue. I'll get a massive delay when trying to log out or reload UI before the game will do either of those things, and sometimes will get kicked to login with error 303 during it.

So it's NOT just me. Great! I was beginning to think it was just me.

Same! Which add-ons are you running and what are your system specs? I'm honestly curious what's going on because the issue just randomly appeared a day or two ago.

Well the addons that I've updated in the past 3 days are:

    DolgubonsLasyWritCreator
    FurnitureCatalogue
    InventoryInsight

I already removed FurnitureCatalogue, I haven't tried removing either of the other two yet. When the servers come back online I'll try without InventoryInsight first.

Here's my gaming laptop with only one difference. The SSD is 1Gig!

Hm, I wonder if it's Inventory Insight. That's the only one I've updated somewhat recently. Our system specs are completely different.

Edit: Not Inventory Insight either, so definitely some issue with the client that a repair and multiple PC reboots hasn't fixed.

Ok apparently it's MM01Data part of Master Merchant. It times out while writing to it's saved variables and craps you out. I was getting an error on logging in that there was a bad character before End Of File on it's saved variables. First I deleted the saved variables file for it, that didn't help so I removed that portion of Master Merchant and wallah! I'm at the character screen again!

Yeah. Completely removed MasterMerchant and all it's saved variables and reinstalled it and things are back to their sluggish normal behavior.

Weird, uninstalling it entirely and removing saved variables didn't help.

Well I don't know what to tell you other than it still sounds like an addon that's not correctly writing to it's saved variables files because that's how my MMData01 got corrupted. It was timing out on the save and once I reinstalled MM completely and let it recreate the files I could log out to character screen again. Maybe you have a different addon that's timing out on it's saves.

I disabled all of my add-ons and still get it. :/ I'll have to try submitting a ticket, though they're never helpful.

Edit: Seems like it was ZO_Ingame.lua.

Where is that located? I wonder if my sluggishness would be fixed if I deleted that one? Apparently reinstalling MM was only temporary anyway because it's back to dumping me to the login screen again.

Saved variables are sadly still accessed by the addon API even after disabling them. You may have to go through all of your addons one at a time, along with their saved variables.

You can also reference this for the 303 error. Good luck!

I deleted all my addons and reinstalled them fresh and only saved the saved variable to select addons that contained valuable settings. It fixed it for now.

It's with the others in the Saved Variables folder, but turns out it was only helpful for an hour or two. Issue came right back, so I reinstalled all my addons and totally cleared my Saved Variables folder, and the issue was gone until after I logged in to around 4-5 more characters and then it came back.

Wow, so no wonder I never found the cause when I went through them one by one just disabling. I know what to do now for my next troubleshooting session. Thanks!

Edit: I noticed while the game is hanging during logout or reload UI it's seemingly writing very slowly to the different Saved Variables files but am not noticing any in particular, just seems to be all of them. Is there any way to troubleshoot this further? Can't be my SSD or RAM as I've benchmarked and done health checks on both.

Mine just started to do it this AM.
And I've been playing heavy for days, with much logging into the game and logging into/out of/ into multiple toons over and over during that time.

This AM, fresh reboot, started the game, logged in char #9 to feed horse and check research.... logged out to do same on toon #10 and thats when the issue started for me.

Disabled all out of date addons, it can still happen.

I'm not about to go back to playing vanilla with just a compass and chatbox on screen.

Other than that - the only option I have on any character change is to go through 90 to 120 seconds of frozen screen/loading screen/white screen to be dumped to account log-in screen every time.

    NFW.

Same! I was watching the folder and it almost seems like the game is writing to the Saved Variables files very slowly. This whole thing is honestly baffling to me because I even tried what IndyWendieGo said and it doesn't appear to be a specific addon. When I totally removed all of my addons and Saved Variables and reinstalled, the issue disappeared until I logged in to a few more characters and then it came back.

I ended up deleting all references to MM in my AddOns folder, and any database files with MM association, cleaned a buncha zip files that Minion didn't purge after install, and wiped several other addons that I rarely used anymore, especially the ones that had 'last update in 2014' kind of details on them.

I haven't specifically gotten that issue with being swept to the account log-in screen since, but there have still been several incidents where I thought the log-out of character screen was going to take too long.

It turns out the issue was the Randsomware Protection module of Malwarebytes. Adding the whole "Elder Scrolls Online" folder to exceptions won't help. You have to add the Saved Variables folder specifically. Alternatively you can disable Ransomware Protection which I did since it was slowing down my SSD.

Hope this helps anyone who finds this thread with the same issue.

It had nothing to do with MalwareBytes. It's also doing it again today after last night's update.

And yes, I did add the exception to MalwareBytes as suggested.
