the fact taht its March and we havent even received an announcement is a little disheartening. Last year, we got an announcement roughly 5 months prior.

If we are to expect the same with this DLC Chapter, then that would put us at mid to the end of August at best.

    gg.

morrowind was announced early because it was eso's first chapter, and ZOS wanted to capitalise on the nostalgia factor. this year is different because they're already selling a dungeon dlc, it would not make sense to be hyping both a dungeon dlc and a chapter at the same time marketing wise.

I think if they announce this month then they can still make the Q2 June release, with the same amount of PTS time as morrowind had. it'll also give dragon bones a lot of breathing room.

Homestead was also a base game only update in Q1 last year. Dragon Bones is an actual DLC update, so they are lettting it have it's time in the sun before promoting all over it I'd imagine.

If you know World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14, you know there are monthly fees and expansions. You pay a monthly fee, but you need to buy the expansion pack. The difference for ESO is that Morrowind came with only one zone.

Yes, but only because ZOS crammed together 3 DLCs (Morrowind zone, Battlegrounds, and the Warden Class) and called it a chapter so they didn't have to give ESO+ subscribers 3 DLC for free.

Yes, if I remember correctly, Zo$ said they'd provide 4 DLC a year, each of them free for ESO+ subscribers. Now they produce 3 DLC a year plus one Chapter, the latter of which has to be paid separately. So in that case they'd devalue an ESO+ subscription by 25%.

well, no. you also get the free crowns.

and before anyone starts with 'the crowns aren't free you pay for them' nonsense. my sub is exactly the same price now as it was on day one when there were no crowns.

Yeah, but you were back credited crowns for each month, back when they didn't provide any.

    um..... no, that's not true.

In fact, it was true. The payouts weren't nearly as good, though. I want to say it was something like 500 crowns for each month subscribed prior to ESO+. But, I can't find the news article right now.

I would love to see this article you have mentioned, since neither I nor my friends got this mystery payout.

In the FAQ linked off this article, I think. Though, for if you follow that link, you'll see why it's not particularly useful now.

Fortunately @Sirlacker, saved the text in a forum thread back then. Though it isn't free of editorializing, he fixes the, original crown payout at 500+100 per month subscribed. (So a total of 1500 if you qualified for the Senche.) Which may be correct. Though, my recollection is that it was somewhat higher than that.

    Thanks for that.

To save anyone else the trouble of reading through it, here is the relevant portion of the FAQ.

    2) As a current subscriber: If you are an active subscriber when The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited launches, you will receive 500 crowns for having a game account, plus 100 crowns for each 30-day period you have been an active subscriber. In addition, you'll be automatically enrolled in ESO Plus for the remainder of your subscription period. You'll receive the full benefits of membership, and 1500 crowns for each 30-day period remaining on your subscription. For example, if you have 30 days or less remaining, you will receive 1500 crowns. If you have between 30 and 60 days remaining, you will receive 3000 crowns. 60 to 90 days, 4500 crowns.

    3) As a returning player: If you've previously played The Elder Scrolls Online, but are no longer a subscriber, you'll receive 500 crowns when you log in for having a game account, plus 100 crowns for each 30-day period you were a subscriber.

As an ESO+ sub, I’m perfectly happy with getting “free” DLC and paid “chapters”.

I absolutely agree and don't feel ripped off at all. The content offered in the Chapter we last got was, in my opinion, beyond the scope of a regular DLC.

aside from the WARDEN class.. I'd like to disagree. Go look at Wrothgar DLC and get back to me.
Wrothgar is much smaller than Vvardenfell. Unmarked locations.

I haven't played very much of either, but Wrothgar seems like the better option to me.
    • I payed for the first four DLCs outright.
    • I bought the Morrowind Archivist pack (EB Special) and didn't get the exclusive digital content that came with the Collector's pack.
    • I played a bit of CWC whilst I had an active subscription.
    • I bought a lot of crates already
At this point in time, I don't see any need to add any more content to my game. When I'm satisfied that the content that I have paid for already, is working to my satisfaction, then maybe I'll reconsider.

This argument always makes me laugh. I remember when Orsinum came out everybody was saying it was like an expansion. Now that Zos makes an expansion like with a proper retail release now they called it a dlc that is not part the subscription as insult. Eventhough an expansion in a mmo has always been glorified content locked behind a pay wall while still paying for the subcrpition.
Wrothgar dlc does even not have that many points of interest, not that many areas to explore, not that many NPCs, not that many settlements, not that many motifs, quests in Morrowind had longer quest chains, and it had more art assets in general. So when it comes to actual worked put into it Morrowind has more in it. Then we can add in the battlegrounds which now has six maps to it and the Warden class. At least Elder scrolls online the dlc or chapter is optional and your not gimped from bot playing through the content.

Personally, I don't want to hear a single thing about new content when the current content is broken. Not just "oh I didn't like the changes" broken, but crippling bugs still exist in the game.

For instance, this stamina/magicka resource drain bug.

So if ZOS took a year off of making more DLbugs and stopped releasing quarterly game breakers, GOOD! There's already so much content in this game it isn't funny.

If they can't even get a stupid update done without causing chaos, imagine what the supposed contents of Summerset will do to the game.

No thanks. Fix the game, fix the foundation of the dang house first, then add that new sun room and guest bedroom.

So much this. Not excited at all for new content, I'd rather they fix and improve what we have without screwing up more.

Dragon bones was total of a few hours, everyones over it.

Next chapter please, how the fixes on server preformance going? Is cyrodiil going to be an actually competition? This chapter actually going through testing for glitches and preformance? Charge a premium, we demand premium.

I don't mind that you disagree. Everyone has different opinions on the quality and enjoyment of content. I loved Wrothgar. Great zone, great quest line. I don't know that i feel it's better than morrowind. I like a lot about both zones.

The 'Wrothgar is essentially a Chapter' argument has always been dumb. The landmass that you can run around on was nice, but it didn't come with near the amount of content Morrowind did.
