At one point I was 96% done with pve achievements. I enjoyed getting on and doing them and trying to work to 100% pve achievements. I derived a lot of my fun from being an achievement hunter and when new content came out I enjoyed trying to 100% the newer pve content as well. However I stopped doing that a long time ago.

My first issue was the drop rate of the monster trophies. I would kill upwards of 2,000 of a mob and still not get the trophy I was looking for. I put those achievements to the side and moved on thinking I would return to them (I didn't). My second issue was with housing achievements. They had achievements for owning 5 of each type of house, one of each manor and that would cost around 13M or something. Now dont get me wrong I have 15M in cash and back then around 12M so I could of done it but I felt like owning 12 empty houses was a bit stupid. So it was around that time I started to just not do achievements.

However after a while I noticed my play time go down and down. I still play the game however I dont feel the need to really achieve anything anymore.

I ticked off the boxes for my own personal achievements such as BIS gear all maxed, 40k unbuffed skele phases, skins, my perfect manor, 15M gold, max crystals, BIS if I ever go heal etc but I have very little reason to really return and play like I use to. A good example is the new dungeons. I finished them with friends on vet and my friends asked if I wanted to do the achievements for the skin, title etc and I just couldn't find a reason to do it. Its just vet but harder and more annoying. So I passed. I did it vet. I heard the lore and seen it once and now its old. I dont feel like I really care about any achievements in particular anymore if I cant even achieve a "simple" trophy achievement.

This is not a quitting thread. I still log in often enough. Do trials and dungeons with friends and play for my own little reasons here and there. I just only really have one more thing I feel the need to do and its unreachable for almost all of the player base (vAS HM). I just thought I would say my pointless story here in case any devs or something stop by and want to hear a single, pointless opinion.

Not everyone plays video games for the same reason. In no way am I trying to say that MY reasons for playing ESO are the ONLY reasons for playing ESO. Some people only log on to talk to friends (thats fine), some people log on to just do trials (thats fine), HELL some people log on to pretend to be a cat and do the unspeakable with other cats (also fine). This is just a thread about how I went from a hardcore player trying to 100% PVE achievements to someone who only plays to experience content once or twice before settling down after completing some of their own goals.

I hope you all are having a fun time playing elder scrolls for what ever reason you chose to play.

My reasoning for playing is because it's an elder scrolls games and I care to set my characters backstory in an online tes environment that isn't possible with single player tes games where npcs are static. My backstory is a world adventurer and that fits my completionist playstyle. Other mmos I don't really care as much as I do for teslore so I can't get attached to them.

Housing is one of the things that keeps me interested in the game as it's like owning a piece of nirn, but lack of housing slots ruin that for me.

Also I wish we had earnable mounts in-game with currency or achievements but zos is too afraid it will affect revenue

Sounds like you went full on at it, probably a bit of burnout. I'm way to casual for that. I started by doing everything in every zone, didn't care for achievements once I realized they don't mean anything, but did slow play.

When I burnout I switch focus, from PvE to PvE, or then BattleGround, then back, try Vivec again then NoCP etc.

You haven't mentioned much in Cyrodiil perhaps fun for you now might be a transition to PvP as its always different every time you log in.

For some, sure. Believe it or not, there are loads of players who never go near PvP and are perfectly content.

Burnout can happen whether you only PvE, PvP, a combo. It's just down to what a player enjoys and how much they play. Play enough of any style and eventually you'll burn out.

i play this game because it's the best i can invest my interest into. But i don't really like it, content is either too easy, either too difficult. My only chance to get something adjusted to my capabilities is PVP, but going there are another problems which make me leave it.

so, for now, i only enter the game to do a daily random dungeon run and some writs. I feel like in a facebook game.

It's sad not to find enjoyment in something like you once did, but maybe all you need to rekindle it is a break, a change in content focus, or even a change in perspective; for instance, I also like to complete achievements, but I no longer sweat them (especially those which are RNG-based, or gold sinks). If I happen to aquire them in time while playing the game, all the better, but I don't actively chase them, because of the aforementioned 'burn-out', and because it's a pity when one goal kills the enjoyment for all the other things the game has to offer.

Like others said pvp is a part of the game and if you done none of it ur really missing out.

I love pve and think it's great myself and I love housing and farming and stealing, everything. The issue is you can only run the same stuff so much before you can almost do it with ur eyes shut. It's nothing new and ur almost on auto pilot. PvP offers that change we need its never the same its a whole new playing ground.

I suggest you get a BiS pvp build practice ur skills with friends in duels then try some light heart small scale pvp. It's more fun then you think it is even when you die over and over. Try to get a raid going and take some keeps make it ur keep and defend it like crazy. Or farm tel var with a group of friends IC has a lot to offer.

QFT I can spend hours doing nothing but running around a fountain in daggerfall just BSing with friends. The social part of an mmo is the best part imo

I won't be a pompous *** and suggest that you try ways I enjoy the game because that implies you are doing it wrong, when in fact...

You are doing it right.

Playing to satisfy the playstyle you enjoy; because ultimately that is what is all about. Your own enjoyment.

Not to bash those who offer advice, they mean well but often it gets overridden with the inability to think beyond their own playstyles.

I understand the idea of when a game loses its luster through either burnout or changes made over its lifespan, however, it saddens me a bit to see people who once enjoyed the game leave it. It takes all sorts of playstyles to populate a game like this. Be it those who have similar or even opposing playstyles and views. The thing we all share in common is that for whatever the reasons we call ESO home and because of that it survives.

I am pleased you took the time to leave a well thought out post behind for the developers to consider and wish you many happy journeys.

I have the same thing.
New dungeons are fun, overland content is entertaining until you complete the quest line. After doing all the dungeons countless times,, doing all quests, be a master crafter. All there is left to do is trials and getting the in game achievements.
I'm on a mission to get them all (except housing which is just a blatant cash grab from zos crown store).
Unfortunately I am stuck on trials, where I can't find a team/guild for most trials.
I'm a tank main and need to do vmol for alkosh for teams to allow me to tank, but can't do vmol until teams allow me to tank. catch 22.

I'm going to put my two cents into it with a bit of my story.

I join the game during beta, played through launch and was there to start up a new guild based on some personal preferences that I had. It didn't work out but suffice to say, I had to work things out with the direction of the guild that I had more in line with the common causes, rather than a niche direction. I had dungeon runs, pug all of them in fact, finished up each and every quest I could find in the old world (before dlcs).

A year ago or thereabouts, I felt... Lost. I logged in but I couldn't find the drive to do the things I've done for so long. I had so many things coming in into my life, be it ingame or irl. I actually began to dread the times when I had to log in. So i stopped. I handed the reins to a very capable player friend who had the same gaming direction as mine. I had to stop because I realise.. I was burned out.

This is also a first for me, which was.. Surprising, given the fact that I was with Wow hardcore for 7 straight years. Maybe it's the age.. Maybe it's the game, maybe it's me. I don't know.

But here I am, back in the game, raring to go and feeling rejuvenated. I feel you op. And my advice to you is.. Take a break. Settle the stuff that you wanted to finish up irl. Do the things that you've wanted to do. Then when you get back, the game will all be shiny and new again. And that to me, is a win win.

I have been playing almost daily since Feb 2015. I just love the way game plays. I don't play for achievements, never really got into that sort of thing, since 360 made that sort of thing popular, the gameplay itself is good enough for me, I do skyreach runs for newbys for free cause sometimes I just want to burn a ton of mobs, don't need the exp, have 970+cp and 10 mac level characters. So I really have no idea where the op is coming from but whatever skins your cat I suppose.
