Here I summarised it in one picture.
Hope this helps!
Funny post/thread.. ha ha; kind of ignorant too, though. Soloing in PvP is at much a part of the game as being in a group or zerg. Of course, while soloing, you're not stupid enough to run straight into a zerg or a bigger group with odds maybe 3 or more times. However, soloing does have its benefits. I prefer it because I like the freedom of going anywhere I want to go and not being stuck in where the crown of a group depicts where they should go. Also, you may get into a group with a bad crown/leader or group members, in general. Of course, they are not all bad, but, there have been dramas about peeps getting kicked or group in-fighting and other dysfunction that may cause peeps to leave. As going solo, you don't have to worry about the chance of experiencing all that drama. It's already bad enough having to deal with the drama and toxicity, at times, on open zone chats.
When I solo and I go to a flagged keep, if there is no camp up, then I would put one up; whereas the group members there are likely too engage to break away to put up a camp. This is can be the game changer. Also, as this pic depicts, of course, a soloist will get his ass handed to him like that, if he or she is facing that much more odds, but, a sane soloist would try not to get into a fight like that. Plus, that happens to group members as well. You get a bigger enemy zerg just trampled over and decimated the majority of your group members, then those enemy players go about seeking out the remaining group member(s) that may be scattered, and when they do find one or two, that one or two will get trampled on just like this pic. This happens all the time on all sides.
Hell, with folks still cheating about, there are certain illegitimately players/toons rolling around soloing that can take out 6-8 on his own, or need 8 or more just to take out just that one toon. Legitimately, there isn't a damn build/setup/CP allocation or hidden skills or abilities allowing one toon/dude to wipe out 4, 5 and more on his own. 2, sure, 3.. I may buy it, but 4 or more hard-hitting max CP toons getting knocked by one single toon; that is no freaking way, legitimately. As with the pic trampling on one dude, there are cheating soloing dude(s) doing that to 5 and more, in turn. Crazy-ass game.. ha ha
You also don't have to be in a group or zerg to capture or defend keeps. Plenty of times, I would get to a keep and other soloing comrades have also arrived, and we all would engage to capture or defend. It's about how you like to play. There's nothing wrong about going about soloing or in a group. Besides, a lot of those zerglings most likely can't even hold his or her own during a fight without the other group members. I'm sure that is pretty much why they're in a group or zerg, and again, there is nothing wrong with that.. or going solo. Just have to be and play smart about it.
Lots of stuff overtime “killed” solo PvP. Just off the top of my head....
• Resource Poisons have a high uptime against me when I fight a group - no caps or immunity to poisons. Your sustain is cut tremendously right from the start.
• Immobilize poisons/root spammer+crippling grasp vs Mag build - basically dead. In fact, unless you slot Forward Momentum, a group spamming roots+snares will kill you easily because you can no longer LoS. Way too many skills snare.
• Forward Camps reintroduced - groups travel almost exclusively in Zergs. Way less traffic inbetween keeps. Basically no action unless you enjoy capturing an empty resource or approaching the laggy 50+ zerg.
• Easier Mounting - you can’t run far away from a group anymore to drain their Stamina. They just mount up asap and catch up easily.
Morrowind sustain changes.....
• Regeneration is tied to Damage. If you wanted to go full Damage in PvP then you would have *horrible* sustain in the past, and be easily killed. ZOS decided to remove tons of the %Mag Recovery boosters via armor/CPs, added Siphoning, and then made heavy attacks grants massive resources. Also Heavy Armor became meta.
The result?
Zergers can go full Damage, have high health/mitigation, and can still sustain. In the past they would’ve only chosen 1-2 of those benefits.
Likewise Snipe builds can hide in stealth on full damage setups and have plenty of resources to evade you, managing to get that 48%+ Major Defile on you alongside ridiculous damage (they run Divines traits).
This means that you take *much* higher damage than before, cannot burst a player fast anymore because they all run 28K-40K health so they’ll catch BoL heals, and you basically become useless alone.
Sooooo you go take resources and then maybe find a couple good fights over the course of an hour. Rinse and repeat. Not surprised no one runs solo anymore.
