PvE'er First Time Perspective in Cyrodiil

Recently I made my first PvE stam char and needed to go in to Cyrodil for Vigor and Caltrops. I was a 30k hp lvl 30 DK and did a lfg to find some people to run around with to see what everything was about. I got in to a group of about 12 with a real chill leader and I had a really good time. I was launching stuff at walls, pouring oil on people, taking over resources and keeps, and just really enjoying it. We were in a keep we owned and were about to get overrun by about 30 people. Our leader decided we should run upstairs, stealth in a corner and not move, wait for the keep to get taken and then go back and take it over again from the inside once all the opposition left. We managed to pull this off and were just laughing non stop about it. Let's just say I was expecting a really bad time and ended up liking it enough to start PvP now.
I have some characters, play the game and do stuff. It's fun sometimes.

@MuchShock I'm glad you had such a great first experience with PVP, and here's a formal welcome to the PVP community.

    Welcome!

    With that I agree.
Its not pvp u are mad with tho.
    It is the companys capabilities
I was playing with 450 ping. But not that, not even the loading screens drove me away.
What drove me away was Zos attitude towards stamDK

I gotta say i have dealt with some players that just seemed unstoppable, but the reason they kept killing me cause i kept going back! Why? cause sometimes ring around the tower is still fun to try new approaches! You learn from mistakes its what makes you better! Sometimes you can only find the good skills from whats in your death recap!

The only times PvP land has made me angry was due to lag, huge awesome FUN battle, bam load screen lag out mid fight, come back battle over. or the worst lag out load screen come back and be in the middle of the enemy surrounded..ouch

Or the age old embarrassing oh yeah this looks like a good even small scale fight! oh there was 90 more people that haven't loaded onto the screen yet, ouch dead.

PvP can be amazing. if you try at the wrong time though you get those problems.
I feel bad for anyone that tries PvP out for the first time when its laggy though, you don't get to taste the best part of it.
    Ummm stuff… about stuff…or something.

I wouldnt say that. I tend to not like pvp because there is an absolutely massive gap in effectiveness between players. I'm not a great pvper, but I at least consider myself average or above average considering that I've been playing since launch and know the game mechanics and gear sets inside and out. Still, despite that, there are some players who I can steamroll like it's nothing and other players who literally are walking gods that take no damage and can practically one shot me.

I get that pvp is never going to be a balanced and level playing field considering the many factors involved, but when there is so much of a gap between players it can make things very frustrating and suck all the fun out of the game. I know that balance is possible, because I've played numerous other MMO's and other game genres where players are, more or less, equal outside of personal skill and experience, but there's so much more that matters here and I feel the devs are really slacking on trying to identify and fix the problems.

Anyways, there are times I enjoy pvp, but it's usually when I'm with an organized group and playing a support role.

Welcome to the club! I too expected to have a bad time when I first started out, and now its almost all I do. So much fun! I've only been at it a few months, and I'm not properly built for it, but I'll get around to doing it the "right" way eventually lol. For now, I just want to play, not work.

Welcome dude , Enjoy the battles , but know that you have a Long Way to become skillful , patience and practice is all it takes.
In time you will find friends and also enemies who will t-bag u and probably u will t-back them back , its just the nature of fighting - love and hate gathered together .... You will be getting upset from time to time with people , but that's the beauty of it - PvP is one awesome Chaos of events so embrace it and enjoy it :)

Make sure you start shooting those fire trebs from a distance, there's nothing more satisfying than seeing one third of your kill enemy players fulfilled after 2 hits. Enable combat metrics so you can enjoy the carnage as it happens in real time.

Even with lag and disconnects PVP is really good fun, die/kill is all the same as you will be doing alot of both.

Recently a friend finally joined me in Cyro for the first time after playing for a year, he really enjoyed it and now joins me 3-4 nights a week out there and is even working on a new character to try, it's given him tons of new energy.

It amuses me because he honestly thought he'd hate it so never tried it.

I don't like PvP in MMORPGs for one reason - it is NOT even remotely about skill.

I love PvP where player skill is the only deciding factor - I used to play in competitive leagues; heck I was never better than average, but I knew if I got beat it was because the other guy was better than me.

It wasn't because of his "build" or his "gear" - neither of which have anything at all to do with skill.

If ZoS made PvP here just about skill i'd be in there every day. I'd still never be better than average, but hey who cares as long as you are having fun.

PvP can be really fun. The main problems that PvP has is: Server crashes, high pings, and really stupid/incompetent teammates.

I got killed plenty, almost exclusively hunted due to being low level at the time, had my mother insulted, my skill insulted, been T-bagged too. That kind of stuff is hilarious to me, not something I would ever take personally and rage over. I am working on my last piece of impen now, see you soon!
