Resource NB Tank: Witchman's Favor

I call this build: Witchman's Favor
My attribute points: All Stamina
Races: Argonian or Orc

I started tinkering around with the Nightblade, because I knew I couldn't no longer slot Evasion on heavy/light armor anymore and I knew on the NB there was the skill called Blur which could be slotted on heavy/medium/light armor and gave me Major Evasion, increasing your Dodge Chance by 15% for 26 seconds. So then I thought this would work well with Tava's Favor Set in heavy for tanking.
Tava's Favor Set
(2 Items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health
(3 Items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery
(4 Items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
(5 Items) When you dodge an attack you receive the blessing of Tava and gain 9 Ultimate over 3 seconds.

But then for race I selected the Argonian, because I knew if I used a potion I would not only get great resource management on health, stamina and magicka, but I'd also gain 20 Ultimate from the passive: Catalyst under the Siphoning skill line. So it helped getting my Ultimate a lot quicker compared to the Dragonknight, but I know the DK give you great resource management from activating your Ultimate through the passive: Battle Roar under the Earthen Hearth skill line. So I wanted to incorporate the same resource benefit from that passive, but on a Nightblade. So I end up using Witchman Armor Set, which help keep up my Stamina and Health whenever I used my Ultimate, so I recommend running it sword&shield with jewelry.
Witchman Armor Set
(2 items) Adds 129 Stamina Recovery
(3 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
(4 items) Adds 1206 Max Health
(5 items) When you use an Ultimate ability, you heal for 30 Health and you restore 30 Stamina per point of the Ultimate's cost.

You can run Bloodthorn's Touch Set instead of Witchman Armor Set. The reason why I didn't care much for Bloodthorn, was because I was getting great stamina and health resource management from Leeching Strikes the morph of Siphoning Strikes under the Siphoning skill line.

I've also notice playing as the Argonian, I received increase healing done and received by 5% through the passive Quick to Mend. So when running Vigor I received great healing and additionally with the skill: Soul Swallow the morph of Strife, I received Minor Vitality, increasing your healing received by 8%. So my sustain on health was excellent. Plus don't forget the skill: Mass Hysteria the morph of Aspect of Terror, which helps with crowd control and reduce damage taken from enemies afflicted with Minor Maim, which reduces their damage done by 15% and also when casting a Shadow ability grants you Major Resolve and Major Ward through the passive Shadow Barrier.

Recommended Monster Sets:
Blood Spawn or Lord Warden

Note: I'm still tinkering around with this build.

    Classic setup :)
I think this is the best setup in 4man hard content for NB tank.

i have used witchmans as a warden tank, it sounds okay but you have to realize you are not going to get 30 per point, the jewerly is only purple and you cant run it on you body to get gold armor, so you are only getting 27 or 28 points per. so the most stam you can get is 6750 or 7000 every 45-60 seconds and that is with a 250 ulti like warhorn, which is not a lot. you are better off finding a set that supports the team better, like ebon and use that with tavas. i get almost 4k stam back from just heavy attacking.

Bloodthorns touch is better than witchman for resource return, by far. That's 660 mag+stam every 5 secs ish.

Hunt leader set is probably the best stamina return set for NB tank, but it's probably the worst set to farm in the game. No purple rings either, and to get gold you are talking getting on leaderboards and praying...

& Cheese is good for tanking tbh

All comes round to the NB tank thing again. Yes, they can do it, but chains & warhorn is almost expected from a tank these days so you have a predetermined ultimate+set spoken for. Lack of tank friendly resource return means you are most likely going to be wearing a resource set too, so you only really have one flex set. Due to lack of group utility, something that helps the groups is also kinda wanted here, meaning your choices are very limited. The real issue is if you take a class where all three things are built in, like DK, they can then add 2-3 sets on top of what a NB can. There's a reason NB tanks disappeared from finder :(

Then to compound it all, mirage also reduces the effectiveness of 'do x when you take damage' sets like swarm mothers... 15% of the time it's simply not going to work for you.

I might reset one of my NB's and see what ESO skill advisor suggests for a tanking NB... I fancy a giggle :D

& Argonian is pretty much the uber race for tanks. :)

I thought about this built too, but then quit it for the same reason. NB need sets to do things DK can naturally do. The strength of NB tank used to be off heal, but now warden can do it better. I do use Witchman + Dragon for Sorc tank (main role is dps, only tank when I really want to do a dungeon and can't find tank), but only for non-DLC dungeon. Can't do it as good as DK, but since tank are rare in group finder people still welcome you.

Never see NB tanks in finder these days :( Nor DK healers for that matter, but they've never been a thing...

Ya know...that sounds like it would be pretty good for a nightblade tank. Congrats on an out of the box build!

I saw one NB tank build a while back with a resto staff back bar. Didn't think much of it, until I realised it was a stamina build! That was proper on of the box. Used siphon (not reliant on magicka) and the ultimate only from that skill line.

I haven't gotten the Dragon Bone DLC yet and I've been looking at the set Ulfnor’s Favor. Then I have been hearing a lot that it might get nerfed later on. Also I edited the race and included Orc, because of the Unflinching passive with the Healing Received which works well with Siphoning abilities.
