Stam Warden - Shrouded Dagger v Cutting Dive

JackSmirkingRevenge
I know in AoE situations SD will out preform cutting dive due to the splash damage, but on ST fights, with all the passives, the delay with CD, which one of these abilities has higher dps potential. CD has a much higher tooltip damage and costs less, but maybe the delay causes it to equal in actual dps? Looking for a fellow stam warden for some advice!

Thanks!

Most wardens I know don't use either of them... Subterranean assault is enough as spammable if you use dots and heavy attacks in between...

Hrm, Im having a hard time weaving sub assault because by the time my HA goes off sub assault hasn't triggered yet, maybe I am just not doing it quite right.

I have looked at a ton of builds and they have either shrouded daggers or Dive slotted, maybe CD for the passive, but none of the guides really explain why they use one or the other. I appreciate the feedback tho!

It takes longer than 1 heavy attack. I think it is sub HA skill HA sub.

You can't heavy weave Assault with Dual Wield weapons but can weave the Magicka morph with Lightning Heavy weaves . I think that was the confusion there . While using Dual Wield , best option is HA > Assault > HA > DoT > HA > Assault etc. First Assault should go off while you are casting the DoT or slightly after that .

    2 Assault rotation :

    HA > Rending Slashes > HA > Assault > HA > Trap > HA > Assault > HA > Deadly Cloak > Swap > Endless Hail > LA > Razor Caltrops > LA > Poison Injection > Swap > Repeat . Something like this or this :

    3 Assault Rotation :

    HA > Assault > HA > Rending Slashes > HA > Assault > HA > Deadly Cloak > LA > Assault > Swap > Endless Hail > LA > Razor Caltrops > LA > Rearming Trap > LA > Poison Injection > Swap > Repeat .

Second rotation will slightly less sustain due to 4 heavy and 1 light instead of 5 heavy but should get higher DPS on Assault . Anyway , try both . Use whichever gives better DPS . These are obviously not the best rotations you can use for highest DPS , just usual 5 heavy attack rotations that can basically work for any class . Work your way to a better one from these .

I am definitely sure Assault has higher damage than Cutting Dive . Also better in AOE obviosly so that is the best choice overall . Shrouded Daggers is the most expensive one by the way and has less damage than Assault . Don't think of Assault as a spammable , more like a fill-in skill between your DoTs .

skill setup of my stam warden:

FB: Blade Cloak, Subterranean Assault, Blood Craze, Rearming Trap, Bird of prey/Cutting Dive (For Moments where you can't stay melee).
BB: Hail, Caltrops, Injection, Netch, Flex Spot.

Double Slot the Bear for highest damage and use it every second rotation on the back bar.

The highest damage rotation on stam warden is:

Netch SA, Blade Cloak > Trap, Bar swap to back bar, Hail > LA > Caltrops > LA > Injection > LA > Bear (if ready) > Bar Swap > SA > Heavy Attack > Blood Craze > LA > SA > Heavy Attack > Trap > LA > SA > Bar Swap > Repeat from Hail.

Gear Setup largely depends on your group. Generally, the more often you cast Subterranean assault the more damage it will be. That skill and the bear are literally the two main carriers of stamina wardens...

You can use any combination of the following:

Stormfist + War Machine + Sunderflame (with weapons) < my favourite
Velidreth + VO + NMG (With weapons)
You can mix all of these as you wish, depending on the situation.

For trials the first one is my favourite because Stormfist gives you better sustain and you give your group a lot of utility.

I might have a few trial and dummy parses, haven't played it in a while though... Will add them as soon as I fine them. I remember doing 54k on varlariel with that...

Note that this is fully selfbuffed with an equal drain and regen of stamina, so this is fully sustainable in a raid environment. Also note that I was still underperforming when compared to the stamina dks and stamsorcs we had in the group, so there's technically no reason to run a stamina warden other than aoe fracture and breach...

Thank you for the feedback! That is somewhat disappointing because the class is fun to play, wish they could rework it to be a little more competitive.
