Magplar Builds

Hey all,

After the recent updates, I’m deciding to dust off my Breton magicka Templar. Is there a consensus on the “best” build for pvp? Looking for dps, sustain, and survivability. Ive seen a few people mention sets to use, but I’m also looking for type of armor, traits, skills needed, champion points, etc. Thanks in advance!

@fossildawg here is mine, it's light armor with high damage and good survivability from wizard's riposte. You can swap Valkyn for Pirate Skeleton if you feel too squishy. CP and skills are on tabs on the right hand side.

If you want high dps, then magplar is not a good choice. Magplar has great heal and op purge, but dps is not high. I am currently running 5 1 1 light armor, 2 chudan 5 fortified brass body, 3 jewel + 2 sword wizard riposte, vma resto. 3 defense sets means tanky enough but lack dmg.

For PvE, delete magplar, make sorc.

For PvP, delete magplar, make StamDK tank

5 rattlecage (3 jewellery 1 destro staff and 1 big armor piece), 5 julianos (all light armor), 1 kena light.

Rattlecage gives you very high spell damage + 100% major sorcery uptime + some health

Julainos and kena are pure spell damage

6 light and 1 heavy gives you plenty of magicka recovery and enough health to not get insta gibbed.

I assume PvP because you can survive easy in PvE with a pure DD build.

I personally like blobs build for this, but change bloodspawn/skoria instead of skeleton, since the defile can't be purged anymore and you can use the extra ult/resists to survive. Skoria provides health and some high burst damage.

Argonian gives a lot of sustain and defense. SPC onebarred+willpower provides better damage than other 5pc sets with better 2/3/4 pieces. Riposte gives nice 2/3/4 bonuses and good defense, also onebarred.
    MagDK main. PC/EU @AK-ESO
    Best houseknight EU.

You got some wrong news, Sorc lost dps with current patch and magplar are not bad in PVE.

Alcast mostly using MagPlar DPS and his build is pretty descent.

    Bad advice:
    Pve, magblade
Pvp: too many classes to list here
    Xbox one EU
8 Flawless conquerors on all class specs (4 stam, 4 magicka)
    Doesn't stand in red

Plz i get 30k-40k ap/ hour by just spam rapid regen and not die often. Stam tank dk is basically troll your enemy for no self gain. Have fun with the 10-15k ap / hour.

    My la build:
5 overwhelming 5 wizard 2 valkyn or pirate dw front bar and charged ice staff back bar.
    My heavy build:
5 axiom 5 necropotence 2 shadowrend dw frontbar
    charged ice staff back bar.
I'm undecided about which build I prefer atm.
Charged ice staff is great if you dont invest in the first destro passive because it lets you block with stamina and gives you acces to an aoe root plus elemental drain.

And it gives you access to minor maim which is helpful for non-wizards build. It’s only on one target tho so wizards still outperforms that drastically

It's icing on the cake, not really a reliable defense.
The ice staff is better if you use immobilze/Stam cost poisons and use frost reach.

I like the damage of blockade plus it procs the root on on multiple people alot if you use the charge trait.
Gonna try out frost reach now that you mentioned it.
Do you know if charged trait ups the proc chance of poisons?
