Build help (Wood Elf StamBlade)

Anyone offer guidance on my current build(s)?

Primarily going to be playing solo or with 1 or 2 other non CP players (Literally got the game last month). So looking for decent survival with decent DPS.

With Hundings Rage: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=48927

With Vampires Kiss: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=48912

Sort of just winging it until this stage, thought it best to look into better gear/skills setup now I've hit cp160+

Any help is appreciated

Weapons? Guessing with hundings and vampire kiss it's gonna be stamina based? You can literally solo overland and normal dungeons with any weapon.

@RavenSworn Yes I'm running a Stamina Nightblade with 5pc Spriggans & either 5pc Vampires Kiss or Hundings rage. (Also 2pc Briarheart on rings)

Lose the 5th item of Vampires Kiss or Hundings on the back bar.

I do need to work on my rotation quite a bit, just want to have a solid base to improve from - before I get into a rotation based on a useless skill...

If you are going solo and are new to the game and I guess you do not have vigor unlocked. I would suggest 2h + bow.

On the 2h bar you would put cleave(morphed to brawler) and momentum(morphed to rally) that would give you a damage shield plus a heal. And you could then switch out vampire kiss set for a dmg set or a sustain set. I recommend using grim focus(morphed to relentless focus) for regen aswell as the dmg it give and siphoning strikes (morphed to leeching) for regen and heal.

That would give you a good steady base and you can try around with different skills etc.

    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets

I would suggest 1 crafted set and Hunding is a good one and then 1 overland set that you can have as jewelery pieces, that way you can have 2 5 trait sets.

Hope it help you a little.

@Yakidafi Thanks for the tips, I'm used to DW on front bar, 2H seems bulky & will take a bit of getting used to.

I do have vigor unlocked but haven't used it due to the healing from the other skills I use:
    • Blood Thirst (60% damage - around 2/2.5k non crit)
    • Blood Craze - 500/600 per second
    • Reapers Mark - 60% max health (Not sure if this is base health, or after buff food?? 7.5k before, 11k after (per kill)
    • Killers Blade - 1/3 of the above listed values per kill

Best to slot vigor & re-morph these skills for damage over healing??

Reapers Mark might work with mobs, public dungeons, but is redundant in single boss fights. The debuffs that Mark gives are easily available via tank's pierce armor. However it is a really awesome solo skill, couple with killers blade.

Given a choice, lose the vampire kiss bonus, hundings bonus is much better. However, pairing a crafted set with a dropped set is much better. You can go the 5-5-2 route much easily that way.

If you have vigor unlocked, it is a much better heal than blood craze or blood thirst. However, do remember if you are in a group with a healer, then having vigor is a crutch imo. It's much better to include another skill that either 1) increases your damage output 2) is does direct damage / dots. Trust your healers (unless they are fake, but if they are your friends, then punch them irl if they don't heal you lol)

2 Hand feels so slow on most characters and it doesn't end up doing the same damage as dual wield but for a nightblade you have a generally better execute (killer's blade) and a better spammable (surprise attack). Rally gives you 20% damage too and Brawler, against large groups, survival. My stamblade, I run 2 handed solo, dual wield in groups. Dual wield heals are not comparable to Rally, but blade cloak, for AoEs is probably superior survivability.

@RavenSworn @Alqu Thanks so much for the suggestions!

I'm going to try slotting Vigor over reapers mark for now to see how that goes, maybe swap Bloodthirst for Surprise Attack solo play to keep the Major Fracture (as my pen is only at 9.5k). Only thing I'll ask is whether I should add Vigor into a rotation or just use it as an 'oh ****' skill?

I'll try a bit of overland stuff later to see how it goes, if I'm still struggling I'll make the swap to 2H and see if that's any better

    Looking at 2H:

    5pc Spriggans 4pc Hundings 2pc Briarheart

Front Bar: Sharpened Axe w/ Poison enchant
Killers Blade, Surprise Attack, Brawler, Spiked Bone Shield, Rally

    Back Bar: Precise Bow
Poison Injection, Razor Caltrops, Endless Hail, Resolving Vigor, Relentless Focus

Far more tanky & doesn't look (in theory) to drop too much dps, might be worth giving that a shot.

If you have vigor go with dw, will have more dmg in pve.

vigor is best used before something happens or with a dodge roll following if needed, or cloak in your case.

Make sure you also have the Shadow Barrier passive. That's another reason Surprise Attack is a strong choice for a solo build. You have two shields up all the time, every time you hit Surprise attack and Brawler.

I do use Spiked Bone Shield in PvP on my nightblade, but looking at this build, that plus Rally, plus 2 shields, plus vigor, that may be defensive overkill for most PvE content. If in a small group, I'd keep Vigor as that's a good secondary group heal. I'd put Beast Trap there instead.

Just until everyone else I'm running with gets a little more experiance with combat and mechanics. Currently picking up the tank role due to having a healer (lv19) and 2 DD's (lv30ish).

Plus being low cp ive got low damage mitigation (around 2/3%) but swapping to heavy drops loads of weapon crit so dont know whether its worth it.

I tried swapping in vigor for self heals but i still get 2 shot from some non dlc world boses

Going to give 2H a go later tonight, last resort I'll go heavy or sword and board for a while.

If penetration is low, go for kragh or spriggans. Don't go for both as it will over pen with diminishing results.

You can grab a quick kena shoulders from the chests with spriggans and hundings 5-5-1 setup, with the back bar being hundings. (this is if your penetration is low).

If you feel the penetration is right, go for max Stam monster shoulders like selene or domihaus. You can also farm automaton but it has to be front barred imo. That you can pair it mechanical acuity since it gives you 100% crit. You an also go briar heart with mechanical acuity, that's an awesome pairing too.

Always have a heavy chest and light belt crafted so you can have the best defenses. If you go 2h / bow, your bar should look like:

Endless Hail, poison injection, trap beast, reapers mark, leeching strikes

Surprise attack, reverse slice, Killers blade, relentless focus, Rally / vigor.

This is as simple as it gets, you can swap reverse slice with brawler for more protection but ultimately, the faster you kill, the better you are off.

The rotation is simple too, LA weave bow bar, HA weave two hander bar. SA for above 50%, reverse slice 50%-20%, Killers blade spam for last 20%.

Some really sound advice, didnt actually know about having a heavy chest until reading this but makes sense that it would give the most protection

Thinking about a 5/5/1 with Hundings, Spriggans & Kragh as my pen is still under 10k, will likely swap out when I can upgrade armour a bit more, or put a few more CP into pen.

Going to make the swap to 2H tonight as I got utterly destroyed in Selene's last night, even with Vigor on DW/Bow so hopefully I can get that cleared later.

Don't have to go full on penetration though, remember in a group setting, your tank will also give you major fracture, if your other dps runs nmg or sunder flame, you will get more penetration too so do take note.

Imo, the best number to get is around 8-9k, but as long as you can get it to around 11-12k final pen value that should be OK. No use having all that penetration and you hit like a wet noodle with low wep damage hehe.

Just want to say thanks for the advice, swapped to 2H now for general overland content & normal dungeons and survival/trash fights are a breeze now.

Now i've hit CP200 I'm going to swap out spriggans for more damage as I've got 20 points into penetration now. Giving mechanical acuity a shot as 45% crit is a lot lower than the 60% I'm used to

Might take a while tho as I'm currently running spriggans jewelry so that will need switching out... yay for farming
