I have to agree. Now if the skill advisor was an actual fleshed out build advisor that offered build solutions and information all around, that worked, that would be super useful. But as it is it's just a waste. A joke. We can always hope it gets improved with time, right? no. not gonna happen, it will stay casual dumbed down forever, Im sure of it.

I like the small level up rewards though, that's a nice toucha.

The advisor offers build for a tank, a healer, a stamina dps and a magicka dps for every class in the game, plus an absolut nwebie build. What else do you want, specialized PvP/veteran trial/Maelstrom Arena builds?

    Yes.

Uhhh...is zos were talking about here. They think we need an advisor with 15 skills that have a stam and mag morph. Even when I was new I understood which ones I needed to run, and I had never played an mmo, I was expecting skyrim online.

You are vastly underestimating how bad some people can be at optimization... one of my good friends, love the guy, but wow his build was bad... completely built magicka for 1 handed sword DK tank build... no Stamina or Health... I had to shareplay and redo his entire build for him... (even worse he was going for Tank build but had no taunts at all).

The problem also comes from the fact alot of people don't know what they want to specialize in right form the start.

The feature is def. rough around the edges... but I'm willing to bet it would have led him on a better path than the monstrosity he created.

Not to derail or anything, but what do you mean by "completely built magicka"? Do you mean all glyphs and attributes in magicka, or just attributes? The reason I ask, is that my DK tank has all attributes in magicka with 35k health and 14k stamina. She rocks Ebon/Seducer and either Bloodspawn or Illambris depending on the content. When I need stamina (which is rare, as I don't permablock), I just pop a potion (Argonian passive) and/or spam igneous shield. My tank never dies (unless trying to rez fallen team mates when she's the last one standing) and never has issues with utility skills.

You'll want more stamina than magicka for vet trials, but magicka DK tanks work very well for vet dungeons. I ran the "meta" trial build when I first started tanking; I was always out of magicka in dungeons and had to use talons/chains sparingly. Now I just spam that stuff, thanks to my big magicka and magicka regen pools.

The Skill Advisor isn't your one-stop link directly to Alcast's website.
It's an in-game advice-system for what things will likely work for a basic build.

...It's not "so stupid", it's just not very useful for players with moderate skill levels.

if they got ridd of the whole scaling and made hybrids viable this whole problem would just disappear...

If every build could use every skill, every dps would be using the same skills, I mean right now they are but at least you have Stam/mag build, there would only be one build per class for dps, instead of 2. Healers and tanks would be not be impacted.

On all honesty its fine for new players. Most of us that have been around know what works and doesn't. I've been following the skill advisor on a stam warden and its pretty spot on for a low level. Learning this game and how to be effective took some time, so this is better than nothing. Yes some people will Google builds and ask a bunch of questions. But a lot won't, and lets be honest some players are just trolls and wouldn't bother helping. They would prefer to insult some new player rather than helping. Any new player that watches zone chat would probably be intimidated enough to not ask.

Again this system wasn't designed to help established players. We learned the hard way, at least they get a leg up now.

This is a helpful tool but does NOT need to be on the screen when you turn off the notification. You should be required to go back into the settings and enable. I don't need to be reminded that it is there all the time.

I'm sure it was mentioned but there are a bunch of "builds" to choose and advisor is based on the current one you have selected.

I guess the improvement would be making it more clear which "build" you are choosing.

It's not terrible, it's probably pretty decent for a new player. It's also something you can easily turn off.

Also, the per level reward system that requires you to (and reminds you to) press F to level is pretty decent and you get rewards every level. A lot of crown stuff, xp scrolls, potions etc and it's probably a good advertisement for what you can get from the crown store (take that as you want, haha).

I just leveled a character and got to see it at work. I think it's pretty good overall.

My issue is that you can end up in a situation where the "next" recommended skill is not available. I've been leveling a warden with this system and its been putting trap beast in my list for the last 30 levels, but its my fighters guild rank is not high enough to open that. It is also recommending a passive perk in Bow that i have not gotten to either, the 3rd recommended skill yep a passive in the armor tree, i'm not yet too. So maybe i've just been very quick to gather sky shards and do skill point awarding missions, but i can't pick the next 3 skills it wants me too.

I do know you can just look at the skill trees and it does show what other skills it wants you to get, but it would be nice if you can move the locked ones out of queue if you are so far from them!

Yeah, the Skill Advisor does not work well for the post-Morrowind locked skill lines in my experience and its not very good at foreshadowing the skills you'll need in the future. I think it has a border around the skills it will suggest you take, but I don't recall exactly.

Snarky yes but it was hardly a troll. I play on both platforms actually. Once you open the skill lines up on console there is a clear indicator at the bottom of the screen that with the least amount of agency or attentiveness, an individual will notice.

I suppose it simply irritates me when people ask before even trying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So if someone asks, you assume they haven't tried to figure it out - hardly a fair call.

I've been playing on PS4 for 2 and a half years and only found out I could zoom in in/out my 3rd person camera view last week. This is because unless console users randomly push buttons to see what happens, which I am nor inclined to do, the only way to find out these functions exist is for someone to tell you.

I'll be checking this out later as I did not know there were advisor settings.

Maybe... just maybe use the other morph thats not forcing them to react to yet another thing in this already fairly complex game?

Many people fail at seeing the point behind this system. It´s for new players who are probably overwhelmed with things to do and skills to take.

You will never learn how to frag if you won't start yo use it. Yes it was pretty messy at the very beginning for me but thanks to early start, now I can frag in face with my eyes closed.
