Few questions about advanced mechanics

Hey people,

I played ESO from Headstart to Orsinium until I broke my right hand and then the impuls to return was missing. Please answer a few questions about the current state of some mechanics.
For your information: I played 99% of the time magNB.

1) How effective is Spellweaving atm and do you prefer light or heavy attacks or is it depending on the rotation?

2) If only light attacks were used, how big is the damage gap between restro and destro weaving (excluded racial ele-boost of Dunmer and Altmer)? Does Penetrating Magic only affect destro abilities or attacks too?

3) How does Heavy Weapons and Twin Blade and Blunt work atm? It was a time when 2H was better for magic dmg boost than DW.

4) Is Nightblade dps/heal hybrid possible for dungeons and raids atm? Or with increased stambuilds You prefer rather Templars cause of Luminous Shards etc?

    Hello !

1- Burning Spellweave is BiS compared with Mechanical Acuity for range DD at the moment for magblades . Siphoning Attacks and the reliability change for synergies made light attack rotation really easy to sustain . Heavy Attack damage got nerfed and Light Attack damage got buffed . As Magblades are pretty much the only class that can sustain a light attack rotation throughout the whole fight , they are one of the top DPS . Heavy Attack with lightning staves is still preferred for AOE damage .

2- Flame staves have 8% single target damage boost from the Destro passive . A tank using Engulfing Flames increases your Flame light attack damage by 10% . Being Dunmer increases it too . Flame Staff light attacks will be your highest damage source if you weave properly . Every time you check Combat Metrics , you should see Light attacks being the highest DPS if you weaved properly and it is a single target fight . Resto is not a PvE DPS weapon , it's damage is quite low .

3- 2H is sadly not even comparable to Dual Wield for PvE . Deadly Cloak gives such an insane survivability buff , it is pretty much there for every Stamina DD build . Also Mechanical Acuity is the same , pretty much BiS for a lot of Stamina DD builds , which make daggers less effective for those builds . Bleeds do a lot of DPS for sure but they are not your biggest concern . Reason is they already ignore all armour and will not receive a damage buff from penetration/armor reduction support like Sunderflame/NMG/Alkosh item sets , Power of the Light ability and Crusher enchant . They will only get a boost from Weapon Damage boosts and Stamina boosts . Still , since Acuity makes your critical chance 100% , double axes or 1 axe + 1 dagger is preferred . 2H is mostly a PvP weapon now . Almost useless in PvE .

4- Yes . The last trial is called Asylum Sanctorium and both tanks are pretty much kiters that barely heal the group . They are mostly supports . In AS , best class is Magicka Nightblade and all of them use Funnel Health to heal each other . So in a way , you can do a lot of DPS while being an off heal . Also Siphoning Attacks now heal you on Light and Heavy attacks so your self healing will be quite decent as well . Stamina DDs can be an off heal when necessary as Vigor heals quite a lot and is AOE . But since it is expensive , it can be used only if necessary .

These might be confusing for a returning player after years since gameplay changed a lot but I hope I could answer everything you wanted to know ^^

No problem, there were bigger gameplay changes in the past.

I'm sorry but 3) was related to magic dmg boost..

Ah sorry . There are only a couple Magicka DD builds that use Dual Wield atm . That's only because they want to activate Acuity on front bar while having a full monster set , specifically Zaan . Dual Wield outperforms 2H because it allows you to have 1 more enchant and an extra set piece , allowing you to run a full monster set . Here is a small video made by a friend :

Most magicka builds still go with double Destro staves though because you can play ranged that way .

    Thx for this vid.

Do you know the hps-gap between destro and restro lightattackweaving? In older days I could weaken the dps-gap by minimize magickarec, maximize magicka and spelldmg, cheap rotation and the benefits of restro sustain.

I'm still trying to find the right patchnotes about sustainchanges in the last months but I don't find something yet.

Of course a firestaff would fit well on my dunmer NB but I don't like the destro skills, have no maelstorm staff, have no procsets like Valkyn Skoria or Ilambris and I loved my restro support/suspression bar and dw burst bar for PvP.

    I'm a bit stubborn :p
