It is never preferred set for stam, pve or pvp.
Briarheart is one of good sets for pve, no comparison b/w two.
Problem with essence thief is that essence drops randomly and you have go over it.

@Vermintide you get that free from BattleGrounds leaderboard rewards, it's BOE so you can sell / buy from traders too.
