Has the Gold Coast motif drop rate been nerfed...

... or is RNGesus just particularly displeased with me today?

I have five characters. Prior to the Dragon Bones update, I would ALWAYS get at least 1 Order of the Hour/Minotaur motif drop when doing the daily quest on all of my characters. I usually only did one run per character, because I didn't always have the time to wait around for people to share the other daily quest with me.

Today -- my first time doing Gold Coast dailies since the update -- I decided to do both dailies on all of my characters. I got two reward boxes per run, thanks to the DLC anniversary event, so 20 boxes total (compared to my usual five). I didn't get a SINGLE Order of the Hour or Minotaur motif out of those 20 boxes. Not one.

What gives? Was there a stealth nerf to motif drop rates coinciding with the outfit system?

They mentioned in the patch notes that the majority of motif drop chances has been significantly lowered. Gold Coast and Hew's Bane motifs were part of those nerfs. Same with all the trial motif drops.

if i remember correctly they did say in some of the pts patch notes that the drop rate of some motifs will be reduced.

Oh. Awesome.

I should have made more of an effort to farm both dailies when drop rates were still high... Order of the Hour Chests were a guaranteed 30-40k gold each time I listed one for sale (which was quite frequently).

It could have just been poor luck today, but it feels like more than just "slightly"... I've gone from always getting one desirable motif out of five boxes to getting none out of twenty...

I killed the boss in hrota cave for 2 hours last night before I got assassin's chest. My first attempt today and I got the same motif.

I don't understand it either.

"Hey! We just developed a cool new outfit system for you guys, so we're going to nerf the drop rate on the motifs people actually want to use!"

The drop rates weren't overly high to begin with... Getting one motif for five boss kills was a reasonable reward-to-time-spent-playing ratio. If I'm going to spend an hour running my characters through both dailies, relying on /zone for quest shares, and not get a SINGLE motif... then I'm just going to stop running Gold Coast dailies.

No, they said, "In most cases, this reduction is marginal." This implies that in some cases, the rarity is a significant increase. I suspect (but, have't tested) that Celestial and Dro-M'athra are much rarer now. Order of the Hour should be the same, but Minotaur and Assassin's League are both rarer now.

Supposedly, to preserve the rarity of certain motifs that are supposed to be harder to acquire (and in no way to encourage sales of those motifs through the crown store and crown crates, no, why would you ever think that?)

so you will buy them from the crown store.
I ran all my ps4 characters through yesterday and from 10 boxes. folks are not keen to share quests on ps4 so i only do 1 quest per character. so out of those 10 i got 4 order of the hour pages and 2 assassin league pages.

Look at it this way, wen you do get one now you can charge twice as much.

I got 1 OotH and 2 Minotaur Motifs prior to the nerf when I was actively farming those motifs. After the nerf and double drop event, I now have 4 OotH motifs and 5 Minotaur Motifs.

RNG is a cruel mistresses.

These are the only dailies I am doing right now.

I have not done the dailies yet since event began. I will do as soon as I can.

They can call it marginal but that doesn't change the fact that they took a 100% motif drop rate in trial coffers down to at best 75%.

I never had good luck with the Gold Coast dailies so I can't vouch for their altered rarity, but given how drastically they altered the coffer drops, I'm willing to bet they're more than "marginal" changes.

Okay, let me repeat that, they said, "In most cases, this reduction is marginal." This time, with emphasis added. In at least one case (probably more) the drop rate has been altered by a significant amount. I can guess which ones, but I don't know for certain.

Today I got 4 order motifs and 1 minotar. 2 of the order were dupes so off to the guild store they go. Did the ashlander and cwc dailies and got bupkis.

This is why I stopped running them before the patch. I'd do 4 a day (both on 2 characters) and at one point I went over 2 weeks without a single drop. I still only have 3/14 minotaur chapters and I'm pretty sure I bought one of them. And now the drop rate has been nerfed even further? Sorry, but no. Mandatory grouping (especially if you want both dailies) combined with Gold Coast being nearly empty usually just makes this not worth my time to go stand around to try to get them done.

Yesterday, I did the Roar of the Crowds with 4 characters and got 8 Order motifs out of it...
A guild mate I was farming with got 1.

RNG just took from everyone else to give to me and me alone. The path to drops is through Vaermina.

Been on pc EU for about 10 months and received one motif from the Gold Coast dailies. Started a pc Na character a little over two weeks ago and I've received several motifs from the dailies including a drop from defeating the Order of the Hour Champion.
