I'm not sure why, but I go right to left even though that seems inherently backwards. Do you pick locks:

I go right to left, unless I'm using Force Lock as part of my project to check ESO's Force Lock percentage accuracy.

(So far I'm finding that its pretty accurate, actually.)

I go left to right, I like to think that with each pin I'm getting further and further into the lock until the final one unlocks

I start with whatever pin the lockpick is positioned over when the lock screen pops up, and that's usually in the middle. After that I don't follow a pattern, but it's not "willy nilly in complete panic" 'cause I'm happy to say I can't remember the last time I didn't pick a lock on the first try. That may have happened during the New Life Festival in Rawl'kha, but I'm not certain of that. :-)

Not really, since it's the same pattern for each pick ...

@SirAndy So middle, then do you go right or left? Then do you go all the way back to the opposite side and continue in the same direction or you do the last 2 pins in the opposite direction if the first three?

Force lock or bust..I have to get rid of the 300+ lockpicks I have somehow..When I DO decide to pick the lock, I just start wherever my pick currently is. Sometimes I'll go right, sometimes left. If I'm really bored, I'll alternate left/right.

Lock picking is terribly easy. Although on master chests I usually have to depress the pins twice. First time to find the sweet spot and 2nd to anticipate the release.

In real life you use a torque wrench to slightly turn the bolt while kinda stroking the pins at different levels of pressure to get them to catch. Not that I was ever particularly great at it.

I start in the center then go L>R but if I miss I just keep jumping around. If I'm jumpy I have more success on the high level locks for some reason.

inside to outside...that way you don't accidentally "bump" any pins you already have set. I can pop a training lock (clear lock where you can see the pins) in about 20 seconds. Real locks where you have to do everything by touch are a little harder.
