Cosmetic non-combat polymorph for werewolf RPers?

MaverickWerewolf
Hi, all.

I played ESO a lot during beta and loved it. I was drawn in primarily by the werewolves, which I've always loved in every ES game. I'm very recently getting back into ESO and loving it all over again, but I'm RPing this time around. I am, of course, RPing werewolves.

The issue, though, is that - while I love the werewolf form mechanics in this game, and I won't be complaining about those - RPing at all in werewolf form is basically impossible. Out of combat, you'll have an average of 12-20 seconds and/or ticks on your timer (that's if you recently ate a corpse) in which to RP before you unceremoniously return to your normal form. This is great for gameplay, obviously. But it's very stunting for anyone who wants to have any kind of RP happen in werewolf form, especially anything wherein the werewolf appears to be feral and a threat - since they're just about to return to their normal form, so it's not a big deal.

I know it's been suggested before, but it would be great if RPers could get a purely cosmetic werewolf form polymorph for use only outside of combat. The moment combat is started, they return to their normal form. Otherwise, everything looks just like it would if they were using their werewolf transform ability (no swords or shields or armor appearing, obviously). This wouldn't mess up any gameplay mechanics behind the werewolf form being a temporary ultimate that grants greater power and different abilities in combat, but it'd allow RPers to have something to use.

It would, of course, only be given to werewolf players. It'd also have to be able to apply the werewolf form they chose in their skill tree - or possibly all werewolf players unlock all three colors cosmetically, in case they want to RP a werewolf of a different color than their skill tree allows (grey, for instance, which no high level werewolf will be; I'm currently RPing a werewolf who is meant to be black but is still currently grey because he hasn't quite reached the right level again yet).

tl;dr: It'd be great to have a cosmetic, out-of-combat werewolf polymorph (that would in no way affect the actual gameplay and combat mechanics for the werewolf system and be removed once combat was started) of all colors available for werewolf players, so that we could properly RP our characters in werewolf form.

Thanks for reading!

But eww, that makes my Bosmer look like a LOTR style orc. I'd rather just have full doggo morph.

I wasn't playing when they did this, apparently? I would've bought it for sure (I'll have to keep an eye out in case it becomes available again), but I do also have to agree with Bladerunner. It's not what I had in mind (doubly so because it apparently comes with a costume attached, so you can't exactly RP shifting into that and going feral).

I'd just like a cosmetic polymorph of the werewolf forms, since that's what we actually turn into. *shrug*

You can always just hang at the shrine I suppose. We do content, such as pvp, vet dungeons, and normal trials with full werewolf groups. Call of the Pack helps massively as you can stand around for several minutes, without losing form, so long as you have 4 other werewolves.

I personally can run around and easily keep my timer up indefinitely just by killing and devouring mobs. Bugs and deer etc work great.
  • MaverickWerewolf
Yeah, I'm thinking of trying some RPing at the shrine, since it's the only alternative at this time. Still, a little odd. :/

I'm RPing as the only werewolf in my little RP group, so the pack bonuses are out.

I would support getting a polymorph for hitting max lvl WW. You should be able to at very least look like a WW all the time, if you want.
  • MaverickWerewolf
Yeah, I thought about suggesting the max level thing, too. It'd make sense for those who actually play the werewolf with enough dedication to get that kind of a reward. Plus, it'd prevent new werewolves from running around in that polymorph and annoying everyone.

There would be downsides to having it available, of course - but, overall, I think it'd be awesome for the RPing communities in the game.

dumb question number one - what does it mean to role play as a werewolf?

dumb question number two - do you just howl at the screen a bunch?

Edit: dumb question number three - is it possible to role play solo - or, does role playing require more than one player?

except for question 2 - i'm actually curious...

when i'm playing as a werewolf in one of those "conflict" towns where you can fight everyone for as long as you like while in ww form - I feel pretty immersed in to the environment...not really sure though if that's "role playing"...
