What's completely adorable is the XP farmers taking their complaints to zone chat...and expecting zone chat to agree with them.

Sorry, its zone chat. We'll argue with anyone.

I had one pair ask me to not grind as I was in the mid 900s for CP and they were in the L20s. I told them to invite or coexist that I was using up dbl experience bonus. They invited and we pulled larger groups of mobs than they could pull on their own. 30 minutes later I thanked them and left. It worked out well for them.

A couple years back I had a player show up to where I had been grinding for a couple of hours and proceed to tell me off. I needed to go away as I was doing it all wrong. I made it very difficult for him, because I was much better at grinding.

Thing is, if no one says anything to me I will leave on my own after a few minutes as I know other players need experience more than I do.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Is it though? It’s not your spot, or his spot.

It’s an MMO. You can’t get salty because another player jumps in and wants to play the game. :)

As long as I get a hit on the mobs Im grinding on and get xp, idc who joins me. If Im getting no hits, then ensure I get one, it becomes an l2p issue. Whiners need to l2p or move on.

So, uh, there's this thing called an O-tick. Everyone gets the same O-tick for an empty keep. About 6K for an empty keep. Nobody is leeching your AP. (Only the AP from enemy kills gets split up between people on an O-tick, but its an empty keep.)

Now, those AP leechers standing on the wall firing light attacks during the defense of a keep, on the other hand, those are AP leechers. (D-ticks get split among defenders.)

Anymore than two people grouped beating on mobs is leeching. And it reduces everyone's XP. Best to just leave them alone

For me, it’s more about them sitting on their thumbs and allowing defenders mobilize and pile in.

More siege up, the faster it flags. Fast and plentiful sieges make for easy takes.

... in my case, with no repair costs or trash loot clogging my inventory.

All that Trash Loot is how I make 10,000 gold an hour while leveling. Don't overlook that stuff. Also now, you need certain trash loot for Clockwork City Dailies.

Let's talk Telvar farming in Imperial City or fish nodes. I have had people send me hate mail for interrupting their solo grinds. And a friend duel's for the fish node when I fish in pairs. Whoever wins the duel keeps fishing and the other politely leaves. OMG it is funny.

I have three of the five siege weapons up.

This made me laugh. Sometimes it's three people running 10 seige and ten nightblades in stealth just hanging out hoping enemies will drop on them. :D

But they changed scoring a while back so we all get a nice big chunk of AP no matter how many show up - or whether they're useful - so it's more funny than annoying. Unless we all die because it's taking a thousand years...

Oh, that brings back good memories. I'd go through the Bosmer area for the quest. Some random stranger would whisper, "don't kill the mobs, I'm grinding, here." I'd reply, well, I'll be gone is few minutes, I have a quest in here. I'd go about my quest, in comes the all caps whispers, "I TOLD YOU NOT TO KILL MOBS, I AM GRINDING HERE." At that point, I'd be come a troll. I'd run ahead of them and kill mobs. After a few minutes, I'd start working the other way. Oh, the rage fits. So, much fun.

Yeah. This happens to me and a lot. I have three Pact balistas up at once. The other two are usually Fire ballistas. Which makes for a slow breach.

I got abuse one time in a public dungeon. There was one last boss I needed to finish the dungeon, so I find it only to see some people already killing it. I rush in to kill it, too, and promptly got called a "******" for it. LOL. Guess they thought I was "stealing" their XP.
Too bad. This is not a single player game. If people have an issue with there being other players in an MMO, they need to stick to single player games. Not going to sit back and wait a full five minutes for a respawn in a case like that.

I haven't run across any types of "xp leeches" in a looooong time.

Reminds me of when I used to play Maplestory about a thousand years ago, where xp grinding was normal. Ah, those days of finding a good grinding map. Then someone comes by and spams "CC plz" over and over. Good times

    (CC = Change Channel)

How can you Leech XP if you get credit for only what you do? I had some CP6XX farming a public dungeon in his divines raid gold gear pulling all the mobs into groups and killing them in a few seconds. If you HOG all of the mobs in an area damn skippy im going to join in.

You want to farm without interference from other players, go run a group dungeon solo. Otherwise learn to play with others.

I go into Public dungeons, use that Templar skill to Aggro everything and bring it to groups of players to help them get some easy XP. It sucks when someone inturrupts you, but nobody owns areas. It's a pain in the ass for someone trying to quest an area with nothing to kill and makes it no fun. Learn to share or gtfo.

Generally speaking, in the overworld, I just mind my own business, kill a few mobs here and there. However, the moment someone tells me to go away due to this so called "leeching xp" as I'm minding my own business, I'm going out of my way to farm xp whereever you are, and do so hard because if you are truly worried about leeching, you would go to skyreach.

..... If you HOG all of the mobs in an area damn skippy im going to join in. ...
Ikr? There are certain areas where there are ALWAYS people farming zombies. If I go there specifically to farm zombies, and there are already people there doing the same thing, it's really a no-win situation for me. If I leave to come back later, there will be people there farming ahead of me again. Every time. There are ALWAYS people there. If I stay and farm too, I'd get screamed at for "stealing" their kills. It's a no-win situation no matter what.

*Edit* I should add that I hardly ever grind XP by farming zombies. It's not really my thing. I much prefer to get XP in other ways.

I don't really care either way, but xp events and new character slots are a great way to observe people's behavior in xp grind locations. Also, this park analogy has me thinking...

If it is like a park, then the mobs could be the park equipment people want to use. If somebody is already on a swing that you want do you run up and push them off and say, "my park too fool!" or do you wait your turn?

I money farm in the public dungeon "Crimson Cove" I am fully aware anyone can join that and mess it up for me. Sometimes I enjoy the break into it but I am not against teaching people how to money farm it. Even if I take a hit on how much I get.

Grinding is for dumbfarts who have no intention of ever getting good so I'm not sure why we should care about their fee-fees anyhow. Good players want challenge and practice, not easily predictable repetition that gives them no chance of improving and refining their skills, even when leveling. Boredom is never, never the way to improvement and people would be smart to not trust the opinion of anyone who thinks somehow magically it would be.

In open overland areas that are not group or solo instance, no one gets a claim on any mobs there. You can fancy yourself having a "grind session" but no one has to give two *** about what fantasy you're living in your pretty little head. If the game lets other players attack the mobs there, it's fair game.

Don't like that? Go to Skyreach.

Does every player know that your “grinding” the area?

Maybe they’re actually playing the game and doing a quest?
