Please read the full OP before replying, thank you.

How do you personally feel about the idea of removing the function that getting killed by other players in the IC causes you to lose half of your Tel var?
Note that said idea will only affect PVP, PVE deaths will still cause a loss and even in PVP, the player that killed you could instead receive just a copy of half of your stones while your multiplier resets to X1 for a set amount of time until it wears off, regardless of the number of stones in your possession. Basically no one loses anything in a PVP encounter besides some time to travel back and their multiplier for a certain amount of time., much like in Cyrodiil.

If you are going to give it to PvP deaths you might as well give it to PvE deaths. Because that is what people will ask for

I suppose, but I figured it's harder to die via PVE so if you do, it should retain the harsher punishment so people will still be careful around bosses and flag guys in the sewers.

If you didn't lose any, but the person that kills you gets a copy of half still, couldn't two friends from different alliances repeatedly kill each other back and forth and farm tel var at a crazy rate though? Not sure how that would be prevented.

Couldn't they do that with AP too right now?
They could do account wide diminishing returns too, 1st time is half stones, but the more you kill the same person it drops heavily quickly.

I did list a risk though, just one less harsh, but still annoying enough that people will want to avoid it.

Your risk is that you don't get a bigger multiplier... It's only a PvE "risk" (it's actually not a risk at all, it's just a reduction of earnings)

But I digress, if you want PvP without fear of losing TVs you have Cyrodiil, if you want to PvE you literally have the rest of the game, if you want TVs you risk losing half - which mind you is better than it once was

Edit: I'll be clearer, sounds to me like you want to farm TVs without the possibility of another player taking them from you - which is the exact opposite of the intended purpose of them being in the imperial city

If an opponent receives a copy of some of my stones, you don't see how that's easily abused? Two friends find a quiet corner and just kill themselves back and forth. If players are to gain stones through kills, then players need to lose an equal number. Essentially duping stones is so broken.

Yeah that is a good point, they could implement something like that.
And while you could maybe kind of do that with AP it wouldn't increase in value each time. Unless there was some system like you just mentioned, Tel Var would just multiply and multiply to ridiculous degrees very quickly if people chose to exploit it this way, which some people unfortunately would.

I'm still not for it, I think a big part of what makes Imperial City fun is the risk associated. Ie. "My Tel Var's getting pretty high, maybe I should bank it" vs "I'm on a high multiplier and don't see any imminent threat."

Maybe it's just me but I enjoy the constant risk that comes with IC.

    Why?

Why don't we just remove all death from the game. Nothing dies! Immortality for all. No Risk All reward.

So, remove the loss of Tel Var on a PvP-based Death, Buuuuuttt... The opponent still gets an amount equal to half your Tel Var?

So, if you would allow me to follow that train of thought for a second -

Say I have... Ohhh... 60k Tel Var in my bank at the moment -
Lets say my friend has... less. Very much less.. But he or she would Love some Tel Var.
Let us imagine now that I have a character on [Alliance A] and He or She has one on [Alliance B]
So I would, theoretically, only need to go to the Imperial City in the same campaign as my friend in need, and they would only need meet up with me, slay me, and get a FREE 30K TEL VAR!!!, and I would not have a single stone taken from me.
Better yet, I get free transport back to my Alliance to stash my Tel Var... Or, I could simply respawn in the area, run back over to said friend, and LET THEM DO IT AGAIN!!!
Why, in a few short exchanges, myself and my friend could easily have hundreds of thousands of Tel Var just for fighting one another.

In what world does that sound like a good idea?
Did you think of this yourself, and that is why you suggested it... Or did you suffer a serious loss of Tel Var and now you are feeling somewhat upset? ...Or, maybe you simply took a substantial blow to the head, and your first Idea was that TEL VAR DUPLICATION was necessary for the balance and health of this game?

Part of me wishes people who came up with such short-sighted and obviously unfathomably bad ideas were part of the Development team of a major MMO. It would be amazing to watch the scramble to keep up with all the critical flaws they would weave in to their Game to make it more "Fun and Fair" for everyone.

    Sounds good
Although I like IC and it's mechanics (multipliers and risks included), but... I don't know, maybe I'm just getting older, but it's getting harder for me to play such risky PvP. Moreover, I could say that I kinda hate PvP lately (in all games).
I was trying to play IC, it was interesting and fun in the beginning, but now I only go there for master crafter writs. It's funny, I've bought PvP DLC to do PvE dailies there.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

I am sorry but that ruins the whole point.

I mean I have never got more than 150 tel var before someone has killed me *shrug* so I kind of really hate IC even though I really need to farm shards and Tel Var to gear some of my characters. So I understand your frustration but losing stuff is the point of the zone... if you don't like it stay away from it.

It's the only zone in the game where death has an actual penalty. I have no interest in doing away with that.

The entire point of Tel-Var is to be a player lootable currency. You're effectively asking for the removal of Tel-Var.

No, PVP is PVP. It's an incentive to go down there for both sides. That said, I never agreed with ZOS' choice to make deaths to both players and NPCs 50%. 80% was a bit too high for PVP, but making them equal was awful. That was part of the gameplay. Make a decision between fight and flight. Perhaps narrowing the gap would have been better, because 80% was ridiculous.
