Outfitting isn't really

So I'm working a new character. Just passed lvl 40 and got the "slave" outfit box. The clothing isn't really usable. Their clunky system still forces you to use pauldrons and girdles even if you don't want to have them show, otherwise you lose the armor benefits. If someone has a workaround that would be great?

Because really I'd rather be able to have these characters look like they've been running around non-stop killing beast and rolling and dodging. Why does Zenimax think everyone wants to look like they just picked up their shiny stuff at the dry cleaner or carwash???

There is no option to hide waist and shoulder pieces currently, though there are several current threads requesting such.

As you continue to gain motifs, you can find motifs that look a little more rugged, but there is no way to add travel wear-and-tear. For more ragged styles, the Soul-Shriven motif earned through Cadwell's Silver has that type of look, while the Barbaric and Primal motifs are also somewhat rugged. I prefer medium armor if you are looking for a "ranger" look, or Mercenary if you want a clean, but tough look.

Because most of us want to look like we just picked up our shiny stuff at the dry cleaner or car wash.

If you want to look dirty, I'll hit you with a mud ball. That will only last a few seconds though

It's funny...when this game was first released, people were complaining about how ragtag everyone's armor looked. Now it's about looking too put together. B)

Wait, so it's not like a runebox that adds a costume, it's like a disguise that goes in our inventory and has to be slotted, or is worn like armor or something?

Outfits are in the Outfit Tab of your Collections. They can be equipped or removed from that tab through a drop-down menu by the outfit display. You can wear them over equipped gear, but the Outfit is covered over by guild tabards, costumes, and disguises.

Essentially, its like a "Create Your Own Costume" except that it isn't stored in your costumes and can be changed out at an Outfit Station.

A workaround for the waist is the Malacath girdle; it's really discreet, especially when dyed with the same colour as the shirt.
