I started as a Dunmer, so I chose Dragonknight.
Because I chose Dragonknight, I naturally became a tank.
Because I became a tank, I can queue for groupfinder whenever I want to.
Because I can queue for groupfinder easily, I have no problems finding whatever gear I need from dungeons.

Being a Dunmer Dragonknight has made my life easier in a lot of ways.

Similarly, because I was part of the Ebonheart Pact, I joined an EP-only PVP guild that I've been playing with for slightly over a year now and I'm still enjoying myself. I owe my skill at PVP in no small part to this guild and I really like playing with them. I've made these good friends and had some great times with this particular guild all because I chose the Pact as my starting faction.

I don't think my *life* would be different, the amount of time that ESO has been available is a very small percentage of the number of years an oldie like me has been alive!

My khajiit nightblade has basically been my main since pc early access launch. Back before launch when I was following the early game builds and alpha/beta testing, I was really looking forward to playing a warden before it got yanked and replaced with templar. I played a druid main for 4 years in Warcraft and have always preferred the nature magic classes.

So after the removal of the warden, I was primarily looking at either templar or Sorceror for my new character. When the game launched I initially made one of each and got them both to about level 14, and really didn't like either one. I wanted to be a melee fighter with a 2h, but back then -everything- was magicka based, and neither the templar or the Sorceror at the time felt right as a melee class. In particular I hated how the templar always had his weapon magically disappear while he stabbed things with a pseudo lightsaber.

So at some point early on i tried a nightblade for kicks and giggles, and what made me stick with it was that the few class abilities I did use (like surprise attack, killers blade, soul harvest, etc.) all almost looked like they were hitting with my equipped weapon. It felt like a good melee class and I stuck with it.

Since then I've been a nightblade through all the ups and downs, nerfs and buffs, stamina meta and magicka meta, I've tanked and healed and dps'd with every spec I can imagine on a nightblade, he's also my highest skill point character and has all crafting skills maxed out and pretty much all skill lines at 50.

However, all that said, if the warden had been available at launch there is zero doubt in my mind that I would have picked that instead, if only for the vague nostalgic link to my druid days in wow.

Well I have 7 characters (plus a mule): kahjiit templar in DC, breton warden in DC, argonian nightblade in EP, bosmer nightblade in EP, norn dragon knight in EP, dunmer sorcerer in AD and imperial dragon knight in AD and I can't say I've really noticed anyone treating me that differently because of the character I'm playing.

Obviously they do different roles in dungeons and before One Tamriel you'd meet different people depending on your alliance, but I don't think it makes a big difference.

A different choice of faction for my main would have changed quite a bit. I formed a guild back before One Tamriel so it was heavily DC focused. The friends I play with now are those same people for the most part. Had I been AD or EP on my first character, that group of friends would be very different. Who knows if I'd still be playing this game had I made other choices.

as in the people you have met, your ingame experiences ect. this may sound strange but e.g ive made alot of friends theory crafting stamplar and stam sorc pvp builds... ik i prob would have met them or been as good friends with them if i didnt play these classes and through these people ive met others and guilds and pvp experiences ect ect

I'm not really faction loyal just gave a lot to DC when they were weak, so feel more affectionate towards DC. My 1st was a EP Nord DK in 2014 but they were zerging too hard so many of us left seeking a challenge.

Always had friends in all alliances so makes no difference to me. It is also nice to investigate the different mentalities of the alliances.

Well I started as a Nightblade, it certainly made all the other classes seem easy by comparison.

I wish I didn't start out as AD though, so many nice people but the faction as a whole doesn't perform that well.

I dunno. I still would've been terrible, but frankly I first started the game playing the easy-mode Sorcerer anyway so I probably had the best possible scenario at the time.

I used to main a StamDK DD. Being new as I was, I wished to be a sorcerer. But then I ended up repurposing my DK into a tank. So now I happily tank.

If I never picked a DK Tank I would never have been cured with this group that invited me to their guild, meaning I would never have met this lovely girl, which would mean I would never have moved from Australia to America and got married. So yeah my life would be completely different if I never picked DK Tank.
