necropotence on a magblade?

Viable or no? Looking for something to pair with spellpower cure on a dps/healer magblade character.

I've heard that the 5 piece bonus for necropotence applies when your shadow image or dark shades are active. Is it worthwhile to keep that on the bar for the necro bonus, and how much extra dps/healing is that 3k magicka going to give?

Supposing you already have around 40K magicka magicka and 3K spell damage that extra 3K magicka will be worth only about ~6% in terms of healing and damage done. Not really worth it. You'll be better off with Julianos or Seducer instead.

ive tried it for pve dps once before it was nerfed and even them it was rather meh.

If you want to connect something with your magblade healer, second set should be full dmg focused, like Julianos or Mechanical Acuity. Stronger you hit with funnel health, more healing you do. Magblade can easily heal whole party doing damage, so slotting resto staff on it or going two support sets is completely waste. You can try Master Architect aswell, and give your allies 40% of major slayer ultime guaranted by Soul Harvest.

That master architect set looks good, never done halls of fabrication though. Might have to look into it - would be awesome with spc I think.

Guess until then ill just use julianos instead, easy enough to get since my nb is a master crafter already.

Is it better to run 5-5-1 instead of a monster set?

For a mageblade healer, I think best bet for a set to pair with SPC is worm cult in the current meta, unless you have Stam DPS.

Problem with necro is honestly bar space for hybrid healer/DPS. And even if you have room, I always found necro underwhelming on NB.

Problem with MA is that the ultimate you should be running is Warhorn. Not exactly low cost, so the uptime for major slayer is gonna be really low. Not a deal breaker and might give your group good burst, but perhaps not my first choice for a healer.

You could also just go with a DPS monster set and a 3 piece like willpower. The reality is that things that are good for magic DPS are generally good for raw healing.

4 julianos body + weapon(if you don't have any fancy weapons out of vmsa, vdsa etc.)

Leaves one slot for a monster piece that you can choose to adjust situational on the fly

Is imo one of the most potent combinations, since your main healing source are hots, you want them to tick reasonable high and crit reliable, julianos ensures both. With a good group you won't really need a burst heal(prayer or ward) for most 4 man content, so you could run double destros.
Atleast that setup worked for me quite good.

I don't have a fully trained magicka NB but I have a healer setup for my Sorcerer. Since I hate pet AI I don't use them at all. So I have to heal without, which is arguably not that difficult. I use a rather class-blind setup, relying purely on stats to ensure the healing is always strong. My setup is 5 Julianos (body) and 1 Kena (head) which is exactly what I use in my DD setup, so the parts commonality is 50%. I pair that with 3 SPC jewels, a belt, Restoration staff front bar, Lightning back bar. Stats are 3.1K Spell Damage, 50% spell critical, 44.5K magicka, 1.65K magicka recovery which allow some very strong healing: ex. I've seen Combat Prayer crit for 16.5K on the tank after a Restoration HA (major mending) and the tool tip is almost 9K. I only use skills from generic skill lines: Restoration Staff (Combat Prayer, Mutagen, Healing Ward), Undaunted (Mystic Orb), AvA (Replenishing Barrier, Aggressive Horn, sometimes Efficient Purge) and Destruction Staff (Elemental Blockade, Elemental Drain) so this is basically doable on any class. Magicka NB will have only two skills you can also put on your bar: Funnel Health and Refreshing Path to act as HoTs. It will work reasonably well dungeons as you will keep everyone healed, buffed and topped on resources.

Funny this should come up... I have a set on my MAGBLADE healer, because I had it purp just laying around in divines (run it with SPC, and a monster shoulder).

I definitely see a reliable boost to both my DPS and heals when my shade is up...The numbers increase visibly, the problem is the shade consumes a bar spot, and has to be kept up in the rotation.

The only other positive I'll say about the shade is that it debuffs the enemy damage for the group by granting MINOR MAIM, and it gives me more health/resistance with the passives.

I'll likely swap it out soon, and reclaim the slot on the skill bar (go for more crit for bigger heals maybe).

don't call yerself a healer if yer not running resto... you better be dropping combat prayer while yer healing. Yer better off running WARHORN on the back and SOUL HARVEST for ult generation.

If you are running with good people they don't need that much healing in 4 man content. They usually slot Vigor or whatever skill they have anyway, and healer buffs don't scale the other 2 people's DPS higher than your own DPS output. Magicka NB and Templar can heal everyone just doing their rotation. As for the limits of such an approach, speaking from first hand experience, I did test the Magicka NB off-healer solution in quite a few occasions: many times in dungeons and vDSA on my DK - I actually prefer running that with 3DDs since the trash pulls are much easier with everything dying fast. Most recent run was with a pretty crazy tank build I had just cobbled together and wanted to test to the limit (Stamina NB, Tava's Favor/Brands of Imperium/Swarm Mother) - we did Bloodroot Forge veteran and it was a pretty rough run but we managed to finish, albeit non-HM with only my own Vigor and @gethemshauna 's off-healing. Actually that was pretty much past the limit since I couldn't out-heal the Amalgam damage and I died in execute phase so I won't ever bring that build in such dungeons

While I generally agree with that, remember, that healers need to adapt to their group. If I am healing on a NB, and my other two DPS are also nightblades that can play well, I certainly dont need combat prayer (nightblades have the buff), and probably dont need a resto. Of course, if you queue as a healer in groupfinder without a resto staff, that's not okay.

As to warhorn, yes that is the meta ulti. If your DPS is solid, this is the only ultimate you should use. That said, if you are with pugs pulling 10k a piece, warhorn aint doing much. Ultimates like bolstering darkness become much more appealing the worse your group is.

Necro is a great set for pvp magblade. Pve I don't do so much so whatever everyone else think. But pvp you can do no wrong with like 5 shackle 5 necro 1 domi
