Account Switching, to get away from Steam

Good Evening,

I am having troubles monthly, or sometimes bi-monthly with logging into ESO through Steam. I understand that there are issues with videogames and servers, and this happens quite a bit with even the biggest names. I am curious though because the guild I run has members that are able to log in, WITH the non steam version, and I cannot with the steam version.

MAIN QUESTION.

Can I somehow manage to switch my account to the NON-STEAM version, and be able to log in?

Again I understand the servers and stuff are prolly some of the most confusing things to work, and issues pop up all the time. I would like to say a thank you to the developers, this game is very good, and I have met some friends online through it. The friends have been some of the best that I have met in life, and its all because of you guys!

    For the login issue you're having today, the thread over at https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/395789/internal-error appears to be getting responses from ZOS. Here's the latest as of 19:26 PST. :neutral:

    I also would like to decouple my Steam account from ESO as it's been nothing but pain. I have yet to find a way to do it and https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37308/~/how-do-i-unlink-my-steam-and-elder-scrolls-online-accounts? says that this is not possible or that you need to submit an account request (or did when the page was up, but it's now down so I cannot verify).

    The user never did get their account unlinked, but after a long delayed response (20 days) from ZOS, he/she was told that this is not currently possible (a year and half ago) with no ETA.

    I started playing before you could couple your Steam account so this might not apply if you started after that.

    I just open ESO from the .exe rather than through Steam. Then I get the non-Steam login screen and use my ESO account to log in. No problems.

    We are closing this thread because there is already an ongoing discussion regarding the Steam issue here. If you still have issues you can post in the linked thread.

    Currently, we are aware that some Steam players are having issues logging into the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers. We are actively investigating and will let you know when we have an update.
