When will there be new class skills... nearing 4 years without them.

This game is stagnating sure new content has dropped but what has game with this new content... well one thing that is missing is new skills for Dragon Knights, Nightblades, Templars, and Sorcerers (Wardens idgaf since they're still new).
As the title states its nearing the 4 year mark since this game has launched and nothing new is coming out for these classes other than what I believe to be terrible balances centering around armor/CP rather than the class as its self.

Players have been asking for a lot of classes well why not add to the current classes by providing a sub class type of system such as...
Dragon Knights - Monk : Reasoning is because "Dragonknight is a Class in Elder Scrolls Online. These skillful masters-at-arms use the ancient Akaviri martial arts tradition of battle-spirit, and wield fearsome magic that pounds, shatters and physically alters the world around them".

Sorcerer - Necromancer: Reasoning is because "Sorcerer is a Class in Elder Scrolls Online. Sorcerers summon and control weather phenomenon - hurling lightning bolts and creating electrified fields, summoning tornadoes and impenetrable fog and calling upon Daedric forces to summon Storm Atronachs and magical armor".

Nightblade - Nightingale: Reasoning "Nightblade is a Class in Elder Scrolls Online. Nightblades are adventurers and opportunists with a gift for getting in and out of trouble. Relying variously on stealth, blades and speed, they thrive on conflict and misfortune trusting to their luck and cunning to survive."

Templar - Bard: Reasoning "Templar is a Class in Elder Scrolls Online. These traveling knights call upon the power of light and the burning sun to deal massive damage to their enemies while restoring health, magicka and stamina to their allies. The Templar is a defensive champion, channeling the power of the sun to strengthen himself, aid allies, and smite foes with righteous magic. Frequently protecting themselves with heavy armor and a stalwart shield, Templars are bastions of order and justice. A templar’s wrath is formidable; they pride themselves on steadfastly resisting occult forces, be they mage, daedra, or undead. Templars specialize in protecting their allies from these perils, whether by intercepting harmful attacks, or restoring the wounds sustained by their comrades."

Now I'm sure nightblades and templars would want something different but that's all I could think of off hand that would match the class correctly or in a way coincides with the class. An alternative for Nightblades could be Bandit while Templars could be Vanguard or Illusionist types.

When will these new skills or even sub classes for these classes come or will this game just remain stagnant only to provide small amounts of content with irrelevant fixes while ignoring major problems like Cryodiil (yeah we all know Cyrodiil is a loss cause, just ask what that data gathered last year went to because I haven't seen anything that remotely improved performance).

    What are you talking about?
Fixing server performance, come on mate you know that doesn't net any money now does it.

In all seriousness yeah it's pretty damn unacceptable that these issues have been going on for YEARS not months or a year but multiple years with no relative end in sight. If players start doing a mass exodus from the game then maybe it'll be taken more seriously but then again fixing servers isn't that easy... on the other side they've had nearly half a decade to find a fix lol...

I think this is a great topic for discussion. Although the Warden as a new class is a step in the right direction, the older classes need some new jazzy trinkets.

This is a staple in most MMO's: class evolution and change breeds new life in a game. Just about every MMO I can think of will usually have class additions and evolution as part of its growth. ESO has long avoided this.

On the flip side, the game has had a tumultuous existence since launch, and much of the time was spent literally re-creating the end game and balancing whole new concepts into an already published game. That in itself is something that few MMO's do, and to survive as a game during that process speaks to their success.

I do believe that it's tome to move onwards, and look to breathing new life into the game via class additions. I would love concepts like the monk, the bard, or the nightingale (whatever that actually is, not sure personally) as elite classes. We already morph our skills, why not morph the class!

I could even see multiple choices for each class as specializations. Example: a sorc could choose the Necormancer option (more powerful summons and additions summons), or the Elementalist route (lose summons but emphasis on powerful elemental spells.

It would even be fun to see a crafting specialization option: as an example, allow each character to specialize in only one specialization: Blacksmithing could have weapon or armor specialization, woodworking could have staff or bow/shield spec, clothing could have melee (stamina) or magic specialization, etc.

It can be a big can of worms if you open it too far, but they'res plenty of growth room. Specializations could unlock at 50, and give you something to do outside of watching your CP bar grow.

I have not seen a strong desire for additional class skills nor does ESO seem to be stagnating. One thing I have seen over the years in MMORPGs is a game makes it on it's content, not adding skills.

We need old skills, passives reworked and fixed, not new ones. Polishing up the game would bring more life to it than adding more broken stuff. And why do you need new classs and skills? Are you telling me you’ve mastered every class and play style in PvE and PvP?

I would love to see more skills. Although I imagine they will go weapon skills or new skill lines. From some of the talk i have heard I would not be surprised to see some of the class skills get a rework. Since there have been some mumbling about each class having a tank/dps/heal tree.

Anyway weapons are easier to do. Less crying about balance when everyone can use them.

They are doing their best to nerf class skills to the point of them being underpowered redundant versions of general skill lines. I really doubt they are thinking they need to make more class differences for them to nerf until they don't matter. You never know though, they did see fit to make a 5th class to add to the 4 at the same time they were trying to make the 4 not matter as much.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

De-nerfed versions of my old skills would feel pretty fresh. Just sayin' Make some of the skills I used during beta bar-worthy, and it would feel like I'd gotten a whole assortment of new toys.

I'd prefer a dual-class system using current classes, similar to Grim Dawn's dual class system:

Let me be both a Dragonknight AND a Templar.

Let me choose between both classes skill tiers to make my own 3 skill lines.

Now I'm neither Dragonknight nor Templar, but a Monk.

Simple, Elegant, Effective. You'd increase build diversity fivefold.

They can't even keep the skills they have now working, like the hemorrhage passive being non functional right now, https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/395286/nightblade-passive-hemorrhage-bugged-and-not-working, how do you expect them to add more class skills.

A lot of people state they prefer more 'content' over more skills and yeah I'd agree if it weren't for the amazing fact that this game has been out for nearly four years with nothing to add to it.

Let me also clarify the new classes are subs of the main class e.g. Dragon Knight having a monk so yes you could potentially be both based on new skills and the armor/weapons that'll come with it.

Lastly Imma be nice and say fool but one tried to strawman me about if I've mastered all classes/play-styles and let me answer it.
I only play DK and I've MASTERED all of what a DK can do. I've healed almost every Vet Trial as a DK, I've Tanked every vet trial except for the morrowind ones as a DK, and I've DD'd every vet trial except for the morrowind ones as a DK so gtfo.

Addition: I'm also a what 20 time Emperor in PvP lol go on Xbox and ask any faction if they've seen my GT in the past, if they were around that long ago they'll tell you how I got pissed at EP/AD and gated them for hours after I became emperor (they had both factions exploit jumping into keeps to stop me from becoming emperor).

Me, I hope that instead of just expanding the classes, they might give us -choices- to diversidy our characters. You know... like that old idea of mine: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/369966/class-morph-idea-mk-ii
    Phage wrote: »

I could see that as well. Once posted something about it... lemme post it again:
    Dual Classing
What if there was a way to expand ones characters class skills by learning a different class on top of the original one, but with some limits? Like... you only get -one- skill line from another class, and you don't get to pick either, but have it determined by the classes involved? With one skill line for each class that is main-class-specific and cannot be shared as dual-classing?

The whole thing could be dependent on finding well hidden "master trainers" (possibly even appearing in different locations at different times, a bit like the vampire/werewolf infection spawns – think "wandering sage you have to track down" shtick that’s a classic in many stories...), and then completing a special "Initiation" quest before unlocking the new skill line and changing your basic class to a new "Dual Class", with a new class name to show off, new class symbol, etc. Naturally there would be one master trainer for each class, and what combination a character would get was determined which master trainer they approach for the quest, and their original class – there could also be a way to "reset" this, much like skill morphs or vampirism/lycantropy... (although at this point, I’d expect them to make that a crown store service)

    I imagine something like:
    • Dragonknight & Siphoning (Nightblade) = Berserker
    • Dragonknight & Storm Calling (Sorceror) = Spellsword
    • Dragonknight & Dawn's Wrath (Templar) = Pyromancer
    • Dragonknight & Winters Embrace (Warden) = Guardian

    • Nightblade & Earthen Heart (Dragonknight) = Scout
    • Nightblade & Dark Magic (Sorceror) = Agent
    • Nightblade & Restoring Light (Templar) = Rogue
    • Nightblade & Animal Companion (Warden) = Ranger

    • Sorceror & Ardent Flame (Dragonknight) = Battlemage
    • Sorceror & Shadow (Nightblade) = Illusionist
    • Sorceror & Restoring Light (Templar) = Sage
    • Sorceror & Winters Embrace (Warden) = Cryomancer

    • Templar & Ardent Flame (Dragonknight) = Crusader
    • Templar & Shadow (Nightblade) = Inquisitor
    • Templar & Dark Magic (Sorceror) = Witchhunter
    • Templar & Animal Companion (Warden) = Pilgrim

    • Warden & Earthen Heart (Dragonknight) = Barbarian
    • Warden & Siphoning (Nightblade) = Cultist
    • Warden & Storm Calling (Sorceror) = Shaman
    • Warden & Dawn's Wrath (Templar) = Monk

(and yes, I keep coming back to as many of the old class names from earlier elder scrolls games as i can... ;) )

I would be surprised if sub classes were added into the game.

What I think might happen is extra class skill lines added, it would support the, any class any role play style.

That might open a healing skill line for classes that do not have one at the moment, extra dps skills or even tank ones.

Would open more diversity in builds....and of course people to buy extra character slots to try these out...

New skill lines for each class would actually be awesome. I'd gladly take that over DLC with more cosmetics and dungeons. It would change the game enough to make it feel somewhat fresh, for everyone.

I would like a class change system. So if I've got a maxed out Templar and I want to change him to Sorc, then I pay crowns or whatever and I'm a sorc with a brand new skill tree to develop. Now here is the catch. I want to have the option of going back to being a Templar later. So let's say I'm about half way into the sorc class and I decide I want to be Sorc again. I just go pray at some shrine or whatever and then I'm a sorc with all of the skills reset with skill points to apply to previously developed class skills.

At this point I can switch between the two classes by going to a shrine somewhere and basically paying in game gold for a skills reset and an additional amount for the class change. I want to be able to do that for each class.

Then I could truly only have one character, but experience the game from all the different class perspectives now and moving forward. It's just that I can only be one at a time.

I feel like "Moar Class Skills!" is a thing that fits better in one of those sixteen-bars-of-skills type MMOs, where you have bar space for everything you want to use.

(not that I ever filled my bars in WoW/etc.... too much skill management, I could never handle the keybinds and had to click most of it. ;) )

Adding the spellcrafting idea they add could go a long way into breathing some freshness into the classes. Keep in mind that they have to balance all this too
