Dear ZoS,

It's time for you to hire an actual QA department to test these things and stop relying on your broken system of crowd sourcing beta testers from the player base. It's not working.

You screwed up the most basic and fundamental part of the game, which is gaining EXP. And because of YOUR screw up, now you're threatening players who did nothing but gain EXP on the new characters you effectively forced them to make due to your short-sighted decision to not make your new level up system retroactive?

This isn't an exploit. This is your screw up. And nobody's account should be in danger of having a bad mark on it or banned because of it.

Hence the reason 'case by case'... meaning... they probably won't penalize anyone unless there is actual evidence of them advertising the exploit... as in people reporting them or GM's seeing it in chat.

Good. That means our most valued community members such as Twitch Streamers and people that spend lots of money in the crown store, will be given free passes based on how much they "contribute" to the bottom line.

Remember folks that "permanent" bans only mean they close your existing account and you are free to come back on a new one and do the same things.

How much exp did you make?
But how are the now judging who did exploit it and who just did get the gain by accident?
If it was OK to abuse it please give all players who did not abuse it a scroll that gives 2M exp.

As though their "crowd sourced beta testers from the player base" wasn't fully aware of the exploit and just kept it to themselves to quiet abuse it before it got fixed under the pretense that they weren't aware it was an exploit and were just farming tel var stones for the storage containers.

Let me guess, when you saw the insane XP gain you just kept going. No, that is an exploit. It's one thing if you did it once, saw that, then stopped knowing it was not right. But if you try to get as much as possible before they fix it, yeah LOL. See you in a few days or a week or so after your ban time is up. They'll probably remove the XP too, and they should. Exploiters should not be allowed to keep what they exploited.

"Case-by-case basis" implies that people who weren't doing it deliberately and knowingly won't be punished.

I completely agree that this should have been caught internally (they are hiring more testers, though), but I highly doubt there'll be more than a couple of suspensions over this, if that. If there are, then by all means complain.

Best way to save face for ZOS : blame the innocent. So what if someone found the xp bug and grinded it for hours? It's your fault it was there in the first place, there should be a rollback if you axe me. Otherwise some "unknown" players will slip through the cracks and get away with it while we other noobs grind those CP's for days.

Exactly this. There is no reason to ban players simply because the dev team screwed up in testing something during the patch. This boils down to human error on your end and honestly a majority of players who probably went and enjoyed IC for the hell of it because of it. You should be happy players are enjoying the game! If anything you all should be focused on fixing the stupid prices of the outfit creator now. That's an exploit of the player base, do we get to ban the devs who came up with its pricing model for that?

The majority of people that go to the PTS are there to find new exploitable mechanics. They never report it and hide it close to their vest, so that some of the exploits will be semi-secret for months. What on Tamriel would those people do if ZoS had a robust Q&A department???

It doesn't matter if it is a new bug or an old bug. If you take advantage of a bug for personal gains, it is exploiting. End of story. If you abused it, that's on you.

I don't know why a player would see something like this and think it's ok to take advantage of it being broken. Complain about a bug being out all you want, but takes two to tango and players should realize.

Now, I could see someone farming tel var and just getting some xp by chance this way, but after a bit they should notice how fast and realize something is wrong. If they make the choice to stop and move on until fixed, cool - if they decide to go into farm mode, they are now exploiting a bug IMO.

Were they getting more XP than normal?
I haven't had time to make a new character yet today, so I don't know. If so, then how would they know someone was "exploiting" it and not just playing normally like they always do?
People are always farming XP on those dolmens. If they were doing that today, they might not have noticed an extra XP gain. Although, if the extra XP was something really super obvious like getting a million XP per second, then they'd notice it after a time.
