Why can't the European servers go offline for service at a more reasonable time?

The European PC servers used to go offline at 3 am, which in my opinion was a great time as most community members in Europe are in bed now they go offline at 9 am. Now I have to wait for 5 to 6 hours every Monday before I can play the game. I've been an ESO plus member since the game servers went free and prior to that paid the subscription ever since the game became live. I also have three separate accounts so that both my teenage kids can play, yet since the change of server offline time changed we can't play as often. Why was the time changed? Was it because the servers in the US were going offline mid-evening and late afternoon in the Western seaboard? Why should those of us in the European server domain be penalized in this way? Why can't you service the US and Eurpoean servers at different times instead of taking them both offline at the same time?

It's 1:30-5:30pm across Europe, most people will be at school or work. The time is fine. Also the patch has started to download already so hopefully the majority of us will get playing tonight.

    Same old, same old.

They bundeled the maintenance/ update times for financial reasons, as far as I remember.
3am might is downtime for EU, but ZOS' data seems to point out that monday morning isn't rush hour too.
Despite that, you won't die if you can't play for a few hours a week.

And why you are penalized? You aren't. ZOS is an american based company. They could just as well put EU servers offline a few hours later. Think about how it hits oceanic/ aussie players and don't be so entitled.

Most of us have as well a job or some professional things to do during daytime - so why are you complaining, this is a good time to do that - just because you cannot play for a couple of hours on a single day, you are making such a fuzz about it? Seriously? Or are you just kidding around with us here?

Doesn't matter which time they do maintenance. There is always one complaining. There are also people who work in shifts. They can either now:
    A: Be at work
    B: asleep
C: crying they can't play ESO

But that also counts 8 hours from now, and 16.

Majority of people will be at either work at school in EU when servers go down.

They will aim for the majority knowing a minority will cry about it.

As someone already said it, it's 1.30-5 pm in EU. I would know I live in EU. So, most of people are either at work or in school or on their way back from work or school. So, yeah, most of EU players aren't really affected by the maintenance time. And it's rather worrying when a player gets all dramatic because once a week the server is off for a few hours (max 3). I'd say it borders addiction?

I always liked it when NA & EU had their maintenance times separated. I'd play on EU while NA was under maint, and on NA while waiting for EU to come back up.
Sadly someone is always going to have to be inconvenienced. A shame it's always Europe and places like us in Aussieland.
I can't help but think the tears and whining would be three times as bad if the U.S had to constantly put up with missing playtime.

To lighten the mood: On the german forum they said they encountered severe problems and the patch will take quite a while. No kidding.

Just wait till tomorrow guys, you know: Never play on patchday!
Wir sind auf Probleme mit dem europäischen Server gestoßen, welche die Wartung dort wahrscheinlich erheblich verzögern werden.

    Simple reason: money

It seemed for them better to make the downtime for NA player as good as possible even if it means neglecting EU players.

Exactly. They are indeed neglecting EU players. But for some reason we still pay the same cash for their service even when they are neglecting us. You know if my local supermarket did that to me every monday, I'd probably start choosing that other local supermarket hundred meters down the road that treated me well everytime, or at least compensated me in some way or the other when they did poorly... unfortunately, ESO is sort of one of a kind, there are only one Elder Scrolls Online game, I can't just choose the better ESO dealer; which just might actually be a reason to why they don't seem to care that much about it.

Because perhaps that the server maintenance ALWAYS gets extended for european players?
Because nearly everytime its 8 or more hours?
Because it seems into the time when we're not working?

Yes id say thats not reasonable. But its totally fine for you guys right? its always done ripe and early for you guys in america.

Good question. Looks like they make NA/EU updates separately anyway, so why the heck do we have to start at the same time? They don't care about us, as would Michael say.

    but..
It's almost 8pm in EU. I came back home 2 hours ago. I did some stuff, ate, relaxed,
I just finished some more work and now reading again the forums for more patch info and maybe bugs reports.

I will log in to the game around 10pm.. or just enjoy @xynode streaming. Who knows...
With few exceptions, during weekends (if I am not out) or holidays, I usually can afford two hours max for ESO.

    But..what is your point again?

His point is that the megaserver is coming online at 1AM GMT. So no, you won't log into the game "at around 10pm.."

Maybe I'm on my phone and can't see your signature? Either way, this isn't bordering on addiction like you said, this is just people wanting to play the game at a time when they feel like it, which is usually around 8pm for most. Most trial groups start their raids at around 8pm. It would definitely make sense for ZOS to change the update times to start at something like 1AM GMT, because people are much less likely to be playing the game during the night on a weekday. However, a lot of people don't work on certain weekdays, so having a maintenance in the middle of the day isn't that great.

Then again, the guys doing the maintenance are human as well so its understandable, but for a company like ZOS, it just isn't a good enough excuse.

Well my point was that you went on about patch downtime would only be "few hours (3 max)" and that it was only when people were in school or at work. So? Are you still at work? And how is the amazing "few hours (3 max)" coming along for you? Because on the EU server I try to login to now, here at 20.00 in the evening, I still can't get in. You must get my point by now?

I would assume the Na player base makes up more of their revenue than the Eu one. This combined with the fact that they are a Na company makes it obvious that they would favor one over the other.
