Directly from the patch notes: "You can always choose whether to use gold or Outfit Change Tokens when finalizing your selections."

We can use gold so, I really don't see it as an issue.

That seems alright and will act as a gold sink for this game. You don't have to finalize it until you find an outfit that you really likes.

looking at some styles. single weapon change - 6k. and even if you use the same weapons on both bars, you have to change both bars individually. so if i say.. want to use a Hlaalu double bow? it will cost me 14k. JUST TO CHANGE THE STYLE AND COLOR OF MY WEAPONS.

I'll stick to ignoring this system all together, thank you very much. this is so blatantly "BUY OUR CROWN OUTFIT CHANGE TOKENS!", its not even funny

Not if you're ESO+. Dyeing costs are just associated with the Outfit system, costumes can still be dyed for free with ESO+.

no, just outfits. costumes and gear directly are still free. but if you were looking forward to outfit designer to get rid of red weapons? prepare to shell out and shell out a LOT.

oh and btw, that cost of 1k? that is regardless of which style you might use, so if you are changing to, say... basic dark elf pieces, - the style is going to be 100 gold per equipment piece, but the dye for it? is still 1k gold to dye all 3 channels.

It's absolutely and utter nuts and undefendable. Either spend a fortune in gold for appearance changing, or spend a fortune on real life money to skip the gold cost.

Completely exploitative and shady scheme. Even me who only use 1 character will have to dig deep into either the gold or dollar pocket in order to take advantage of this system, and I pity anyone with 10 characters or more.

It's shameful of ZOS, and it needs to be called out for the shameful practise that it is.

This was something I was unhappy about and posted on the PTS forum the first day it went live. Costing more per item for rarer motifs is a slap in the face to everyone who farmed many hours or paid serious gold to learn them in the first place. I understand the rarity of items because I learned it and know what it cost (in either time or money). And now I have to pay even more to actually use it.

The cost of some of the styles combined with the cost of additional slots (1500 crowns per CHARACTER) means I will probably just set one outfit per character and never touch it again, if I even bother using it at all. Not what I was hoping for when this system was announced.

Seriously? They upped the dye costs from the PTS, after the outrage over those prices on the forum for them being to high?

Do the dye choices you payed for in the outfit system stick? So if you dyed everything red on the chest, does it remain red if you swap to another chest outfit pick for that outfit slot? Or does it default the dyes back to uncolored. And if it sticks, do you have to repay them when swapping the choices chest, or is the dye cost 0 because you already set and haven't changed them?

My point is there is no way you use all of them as much as your favorite one and care too such extent and don't say they are all your favorite because that would be bs. Just change the ones you use the most. If all you do is play dress up what is the point of even being in eso there are other games.

Well, since I have issues amassing any appreciable amounts of Gold, this is a feature I'll be using only rarely...

That's a shame too. Such a great idea that has all of the "utility" sucked out of it because the minority number of players that are multi-millionaires need a Gold sink, at the expense of the rest of the player base who won't be able to afford it but once every couple of months or so...

So you're saying that you shouldn't have to work to earn money to take advantage of this system? Because I can farm mats for an hour and earn over $20k... so saying people cannot afford it is basically saying that the system should reward lazy players. As with any MMO, grind and effort are rewarded, laziness typically is not.

to be honest, i haven't even tried that becasue after seeing the initial prices, I have elected to ignore the system all together.

outfit change token price btw is 400 crowns. for the entire outfit. which is why its so damn blatant. look at how affordable it is compared to gold cost! might as well just buy that

I did try ONE thing. since I have morag tong converter - I converted the chest piece to it. well.. applied the outfit slot anyways.

guess what? before, you could convert your actual armor and then dye it for free. now? becasue its part of the outfit system rather then direct conversion? you have to pay to make it anything other then base color. so in some ways? this is actualy WORSE then what we had before.

We tried so hard to fight this on the PTS. Asked for a flat cost for all motifs instead of punishing people who had done all the work to farm a rare motif and then on top of that be forced to pay extra money for what they already bought.

that's you. I'm an altoholic. i don't have alts I don't play regularly. they exist becasue i like playing them. and no. i don't have to change their outfits. not even that of a favorite. not at THIS price, not when the scheme to send players into crown store is THAT blatant. I'll stick to my costumes like I did before this system was introduced, thank you very much.

but i will be damned if i stay silent about it, since apparently in out culture - silence means you are fine with something. no. I'm NOT fine.

It's something to work towards, making gold in this game is so easy it's laughable. I'm not even that rich, I usually have at most 100K i the bank, ATM I don't even have that, but these prices feel fine to me for something that's cosmetic.

I'm just glad we can even dye our stuff, I was afraid it was going to be ESO+ only

I'm not surprised in the slightest.

Its been obvious from the first announcement that ZOS was going to monetize this system in a way that strongly incentivizes using the Crown Store options for convenience.

Same. Though easy enough, base motifs are pretty cheap. My outfit using breton 1,2 and 3 gear cost me 1500 gold to fully craft and I can dye it another time if I want.

Another way around it, is use the craft editor to see how the armor looks then craft the expensive pieces you definitely want to keep. Then just swap the weapons+dye, or craft out the monster sets, as those are sometimes ugly anyway.

You can also plan the cost on the PTS, then save up the total cost of your first outfit.

Before: Stuck with ugly styles from dropped sets or wearing a costume
After: Ability to wear whatever style you want

And yet, still people complain of the cost. Who cares about the cost? The fact is most people will get one outfit they like and stick with it....how is this any different than spending hundreds of thousands of gold on furnishings? The game has many gold sinks...its not like its real money unless you use the tokens. THIS IS COSMETIC, if you arent willing to pay the gold, dont use it...I am sure you have plenty of costumes you can continue to wear.
